13 January: Formula 1 Testing - Jerez - Day 4

Fernando Alonso driving the Renault R26 (2006 Spec.) set the fastest time of the day ahead of test driver Anthony Davidson in the interim V8 powered Honda and Giancarlo Fisichella in the V10 Renault.

6 teams were present with 10 drivers setting lap times.

Alonso's fastest time was a 1:18.512 which is the fastest time set so far at Jerez for a 2006 specification car.
Anthony Davidson covered the most number of laps with 68 laps.

The day was interrupted by numerous red flags as well as rain in the afternoon.

Both McLaren's had electrical problems, Alex Wurz had several problems including an engine failure and Christian Klien spun off and damaged his car.

3 teams remain at Jerez for a Michelin wet test tomorrow. Testing at Jerez takes a break for two days and resumes on the 17th with McLaren and Toyota while Honda and Williams resume testing a day later.

The BMW Sauber F1 team will test at Valencia from the 17th as they debut their 2006 contender.

Weather conditions were sunny followed by rain with air temperature reaching 17 degrees while track temperatures reached 20 degrees.
