13 December: Jerez Test - Day 3

Location: Circuito de Jerez, Spain
Drivers: Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett
Weather:
Dry initially with heavy rain later on
Air temperature: high of 16.4 degrees Celsius
Track temperature: high of 19.6 degrees Celsius
Laps run: 83
Kilometres covered:
Pedro de la Rosa approx. 160km Gary Paffett approx. 200km
Best lap time of the day: Fernando Alonso, Renault, 1m18.508
Duration of test: Four days (11th – 14th January)

Tyre testing remained the focus of the Team McLaren Mercedes test programme today at a rainy Jerez. Gary Paffett and Pedro de la Rosa put in the fourth and fifth fastest times of the day respectively.

The day was dominated by red flag stoppages, with nearly twice as much time spent under red flag conditions compared to green.

Heavy rain towards the end of the session limited running in the late afternoon, as a result the two Team McLaren Mercedes drivers completed just over 360kms of the Spanish track. Both Gary and Pedro had minor electronic software issues, which saw them stop out on track twice and once respectively.

The final day of this week's session will take place tomorrow with Pedro. This will be a wet test for the Michelin runners, with the track artificially dampened to allow the teams to complete wet tyre testing.
