17 February: Formula 1 Testing - Bahrain - Day 5, Valencia - Day 4

Fifth day of testing at Bahrain saw Michael Schumacher test alone on the track.

Michael Schumacher driving the 248 F1 covered 92 laps with a best time of 1:32.702.

Weather conditions were cloudy and windy with air temperature reaching 22 degrees and track temperatures reaching 26 degrees.

Ferrari take a break on Saturday and will return to testing in Bahrain on Sunday with Schumacher and Massa.

For reference, the best time in 2005 was a 1:29.527 by Mark Webber in the Williams FW27 during Saturday practice.

At Valencia, 4 teams were present with 7 drivers setting lap times. (McLaren were scheduled to test for 4 days not 3 days as was stated in yesterday's report). McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen set the fastest time of the day ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen.

Raikkonen's best time was a 1:09.987 setting a new lap record for a 2006 spec car. Kovalainen covered the most number of laps with 161.

The session had 2 red flags. Fisichella and Sutil stopped on the track. Montiero went off the track.

Weather conditions were sunny with air temperature reaching 20 degrees and track temperatures reaching 22 degrees.

Testing concluded at Valencia. Several teams will return to the track on the 27th of February.
