01 February: Formula 1 Testing - Valencia - Day 3

Third day of testing at Valencia with 8 teams present and 15 drivers setting lap times.

World Champion Fernando Alonso set the fastest time of the day ahead of Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher.

Alonso's fastest time was a 1:11.219.
Gary Paffett driving the interim MP4-20 covered the most number of laps with 116 laps.

Alonso's time was the fastest set at this track in V8 so far.
By comparison, the fastest time set in 2005 was a 1:09.005 by Kimi Raikkonen in the MP4-20.

MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi managed a few more laps that yesterday and set the 9th fastest time in the F2004.

There were several red flags during the session. Fernando Alonso stopped on the track in the morning with an electrical problem, Webber has a gearbox problem, Wurz suffered a fuel pump failure and David Coulthard had his running cut short due to an engine change.

Juan Pablo Montoya took over from Kimi Raikkonen who suffers from a cold.

Weather conditions were sunny with air temperature reaching 20 degrees while track temperature reached 25 degrees.

Testing continues tomorrow.
