26 January: SUPER AGURI F1 ENTRY ACCEPTED

The FIA accepted the late entry of the Super Aguri Formula 1 team to the 2006 Formula 1 season. A statement by the FIA read: "Following receipt of the necessary financial guarantee and with the unanimous support of the competing teams, the FIA has accepted the late entry of the Super Aguri F1 Team to the 2006 FIA Formula One World Championship."

Super Aguri have yet to make an announcement on their driver line-up or the chassis they will use however it is believed that they will sign one or even two Japanese drivers and run the Arrows A23 (2002) chassis modified to comply with the 2006 regulations. They will be powered by Honda.

The team is now racing against time to ensure they make it to the grid in Bahrain on the 12th of March.

Super Aguri's enty means that for the first time since 2002, there will be 11 teams and 22 drivers competing in the 2006 Formula 1 Championship.
