01 November: Super Aguri Formula One aiming to be on
the grid in 2006
A new Formula 1 team is expected to join the grid in 2006. Named 'Super Aguri Formula One', the new team has
informed the FIA of their intention to race next season and are awaiting approval.
The team will be headed by Aguri Suzuki who is
an ex-Formula 1 driver. The team will be powered by Honda engines and is expected to use Bridgestone tyres.
The team's driver
lineup has yet to be announced however they are in talks with Japanese driver Takuma Sato who is leaving the BAR Honda team.
The
team is expected to be headquartered in Japan with operations in the UK at the former Arrows facilities.
Suzuki made his Formula 1
debut in 1988 and remained in Formula 1 until 1995 taking part in 64 Grands Prix. His best finish was 3rd in the 1990 Japanese Grand
Prix and his best Championship ranking was 10th in 1990.
