Predict Fastest Lap! (Malaysia)

Post by sgd » Sat Mar 19, 2005 3:45 am

Its time for you to have a crack at the Fastest lap time of the Race so lets see who can be closest to the Fastest lap this round (hopefully it will be a dry race).
If someone gets a perfect match or near perfect, I'm not sure they'll give away a prize (?) ;) (but maybe ;))

Please include the time to the 1000's of a second and the driver

For reference, the Fastest Race Lap in 2004 was 1:34.223 (Juan Pablo Montoya)

The Fine Print
One entry per user. Entries close prior to the start of Q1 on Saturtay
The winner will be the one who manages to predict the closest time as well as the driver.
In case of two players predicting the same time and driver, the player who submitted earlier will be the winner.
In the case of the Pole time being too high or too low (wet conditions for example) compared to the times submitted, the time will need to be within 6.0 seconds of fastest time to be declared a winner. ;) :P
(format copyright: Tim)

NOTE: a player may change his/het time/racer. the last time/racer posted will be the valid ones!!

Approved rules below (Tim's post)

So a player guessing

1:45:000 - Ralf Schumacher

Will in over

1:33:000 - Fernando Alons

If the correct is

1:33:000 - Ralf Schumacher

????

Your game, your rules.

But should the object not be guessing the time and not the driver??

the valid is the LAST post!!! only the last post you do (before Q1)
AND in each post must be included time AND racer.

The object is the same that in " Predict Pole Time!": guess driver/time.

Interesting, first it was julian and now sgd giving away prizes on our behalf. Thanks Guys, we're not rich and have a tiny budget for marketing.

But what they heck, I think it is a good idea. Perhaps a bit late for this round but go for it guys.

Lets see looking at the rules posted (even though they are a copy of mine  , we still have to approve them  )

First the fine print should be that - fine!
You can also include the lap number. Anyone picking a near perfect time with the right driver and the right lap number will win a big(ger) prize.
Declaring the winner within 6 seconds. That is too high. Drops to 0.5 like the pole. No prize if the time is more or less than half a second.
Changing time/driver, ok we'll allow that but you can only change once and the change cannot be a max or min to try and gain advantage (eg. if the highest fastest time posted is a 1:45.345, a player cannot change their time to a time above that) - We try to close all loopholes

Any questions just ask or PM myself

PS. sgd, when you cut and paste make sure you replace all Pole occurences :D

So here is a re-write of the fine print:

One entry per user with one change allowed (see below). Entries close prior to the start of Q1 on Saturtay
The winner will be the one who manages to predict the closest time as well as the driver. You can also predict the lap number for a better prize if you get it correct
In case of two players predicting the same time and driver, the player who submitted earlier will be the winner.
In the case of the Fastest Lap time being too high or too low (wet conditions for example) compared to the times submitted, the time will need to be within 0.5 seconds of fastest time to be declared a winner.
No prize if the time is more or less than half a second.
Changing time/driver is allowed only once and the change cannot be a max or min to try and gain advantage (eg. if the highest fastest time posted is a 1:45.345, a player cannot change their time to a time above that)

Great!! now it's official!! :D :D :D
About prizes I just say maybe.. ;) and I'm not sure... ;)
the loophole in changes was put specially to put it "hotter" but i agree with ALL the changes..anyway you're the boss ;) :D
...
ups  yes...i left a Pole occurence....

but I thing it make sense to limit the changes like this:
Changing time/driver is allowed only once and the change cannot be a max or min for the given driver to try and gain advantage (eg. if the highest fastest time posted for a given driver is, e.g: Rubens/1:45.345, a player cannot change their time to a Rubens/time above that) ...

After seeing those lap times I'd say fastest lap would be a 1:33.486 by Montoya on lap 37

that was, of course, too early.... ;) (then i thought that i'll be able to change it as I'd like...)
ok... the current rules allow me to put this as my time/recer (use my chance to change):

Montoya -> 1:33.799, lap 31 (that is faster than JayVee and slower then Graham Ross)
