The McLaren duo looked quick from the outset on their medium compound runs. Williams were near the top as were Mercedes.
As drivers were commmencing their soft tyre runs, Ollie Bearman parked his Haas in the wall. The red flag came out and all teams returned to the pits. Damage was limited to his right rear and possibly the right front.

The end of Q1 was a mess.
Teams had their first runs and returned to the pits in preparation for their second run.
They all left it to the last possible moment and Jack Doohan was furious with his team releasing him into pit lane at the same moment as team mate Pierre Gasly. With Gasly on his right, Doohan couldn't turn fully to his right and ended needing assistance from his team to clear the pit wall. The delay meant he didn't make the start line to start his run.
Q2 and Calos Sainz was a surprise knockout considering the pace of his Williams. First run and his time was deleted due to exceeding track limits. On his final run, he missed his braking marker running off track and a gain his time was deleted.
Max Verstappen and George Russell took to the track at the start of Q3 while all other teams committed to just the single run.
As rge teams crossed the line as the chequered flag dropped, Kimi Antonelli topped the charts just ahead of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. He is now the youngest pole sitter in Formula 1.

The rain came down as drivers were released onto the track to venture to the grid.
Charles Leclerc was caught out with his Ferrari aquaplaning into the barriers. Damage forced him to retire the car.
The race began behind the safety car and, after one counted racing lap, the teams returned to the pits.
Following a delay of about 20 minutes, the cars returned to the grid for a standing start.
Oscar Piastri again had better reaction time to Kimi Antonelli and took the lead into turn 1. Antonelli ran wide and return to the track. Piastri then took off into the distance building a comfortable 3 second lead over Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. Kimi Antonelli rejoined and settled into 4th.
The race continued on a slowly drying track where Yuki Tsunoda was the first to pit for slicks. Teams monitored his progress and teams mad the decision that the time was right. Max Verstappen was released from his pit as Kimi Antonelli was about to enter his pit. The cars touched forcing Antonelli to return to the fast lane and rejoin the track. Liam Lawson stuck his Racing Bull's nose on the outside of Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin and contact was made resulting in Alonso into the barriers.
The Safety car was called and Lando Norris, who had to pit on the next lap to Piastri, benefited with the safety car conditions. He exited the pits in the lead. The safety car entered the pits and Lando powered the 200 or so metres to the flag.

Congratulations to new father Max Verstappen!
He pulled out the lap of a champion to put both the McLarens back in the pack.
Also to Kimi Antonelli who overcame his disappointment of his sprint race to qualify on grid position 3 for the grand prix.
The Williams duo both made it into Q3 with Carlos Sainz qualifying 6th and Alex Albon in 7th.

Notable mentions must to to Gabriel Bortoleto and Jack Doohan for making it into Q2 out qualifying their more experienced team mates.

The race commenced with the threat of rain approximately mid way into the race. The first 2 rows elected to start on medium compound tyres with the first of the hard compound runners, George Russell, starting out of 5th.
The race to the fist corner was as expected with Max Verstappen pushing hard and, on cold tyres, slighlty missed his apex making him vulnerable to Lando Norris. Entering turn 2, Max had a momentary loss of grip and Lando had to take to the run off area in turn 3 to avoid contact. Oscar Piastri accepted the invitation and slid through into third behind Kimi Antonelli. Liam Lawson and Jack Doohan came together entering turn 1 with the latter having his left front punctured. He pulled over bringing out the first Virtual Safety Car.
The race resumed and the battle resumed. Oscar passed Kimi Antonelli and chased down Max. He caughts then tested Max out at the usual places of turns 11 and 17 but ultimately forced Max into an error entering turn 1 to take the lead. Lando Norris meanwhile had passed Alex Albon, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli and was looming in the mirrors of the leaders. Following his pass on Verstappen, Piastri set about opening a race winning lead. Lando had a few attempts before passing Verstappen entering turn 11. The lead to Piastri was 9 seconds with Lando Norris getting within 4 seconds at the flag.
The next VSC came about on lap 29 when the Ferrari powers Haas of Ollie Bearman lost his power unit. Both McLarens pitted and resumed in positions 1 and 2 while George Russell also pitted. He exited the pits as the VSC was ending and cleared Max Verstappen in the process taking over the final place on the podium.
