What will the FOTA series be called & where will it race
With the announcement that FOTA will be setting up a new racing series after negotiations with the FIA have failed to reach a compromise, we are setting up this thread for the fans to suggest names for the new series as well as the venues of where the races out to be held.
If anyone manages to pick up the correct name of the series will certainly be awarded a prize. And anyone picking the right number of events and their venues would also be awarded a prize.
You can also list which tracks you wish to see on the calendar and those that are likley to be on the calendar
(To win, you need to be registered on the Forums so we know how to contact you)
The format should be:
Series Name:
Number of events:
Venues (track names):
Have fun!

Perhaps Racing 1 or R1 ?
I would like to see 20 races

There

Series Name: Championship Grand Prix Racing
Number of Events: 15 events
Venues: Hockenheim(old circuit), Road America(USGP), Mt. Tremblant, Silverstone, Assen, Indianapolis(Indy 500), Surfers Paradise(just to tick off Sado-Max, Bernie & TG), Monza, Monaco, Twin Ring Motegi(road course), Edmonton(City Centre Airport), Sebring(run the week of the 12 Hours race), Mexico City(Autodromo Hermanos' Rodriguez), Interlagos, Spa-Francorchamps
Could be an interesting championship fight in 2010...............
10 natural-terrain road courses
2 street circuits
2 hybrid airport-street circuits
1 oval
Try to picture grand-prix racing at these venues.......champions like Alonso, Raikkonen and Hamilton battling the up-and-comers such as Massa and Vettel at some of racing's biggest stages, blasting up Eau Rouge or down through Kettle Moraine........jousting for glory on Australia's Gold Coast or on the champaign-flowing streets of Monte Carlo..........and battling their North American brethren on 2.5-miles of central Indiana blacktop(now wouldn't that be an interesting 500 to watch.......Massa, Danica, Dixon, the Scotsman, Raikkonen, Hamilton, SeaBass, Bobby D, Vettel, Webber, Briscoe, Power, Castroneves, etc.....

My prediction is that the FOTA series won't happen.
The sponsors who are very sensitive to what the fans want will speak to both sides behind closed doors and read the riot act about the damage to their marketability. After that, a creative solution will be found to solve the problem. It will be written in an ambiguous manner so both sides can claim victory for sorting the mess out and not lose face.
My scenario is most probably misguided optimism.

Not necessarily. The deadline (yesterday) which according to Max, could not in any way shape or form be extended, has been extended. By Max.Southernman wrote:My prediction is that the FOTA series won't happen.

Again, how can a sponsor NOT want to put their logo on a Ferrari, or Mercedes car? Where they go, the popularity will follow. If not existing sponsors then definitely new ones will put their hand up. And what do the fans want? They want to see their favorite teams and favorite drivers. Lets take for example Italy - every singe Italian will be watching their Ferrari, period. That in itself is enough to attract sponsors...

Alons has stated publicly that he is not interested in racing a car built to Mad max's new regulations.
Barely one Spaniard will watch (Mad Max's) F1 if Alonso leaves. Which means the Spanish bank sponsoring Renault goes with him. That is just one example of the power FOTA has in the situation.
