Pizzonia to replace Heidfeld at Interlagos

Post by Ed » Fri Sep 16, 2005 7:12 pm

The Williams BMW team announced that Antonio Pizzonia will be replacing the injured Nick Heidfeld, who has suffered a succession of incidents while testing and, more latterly, sustaining a cracked shoulder blade following a cycling accident.

Pizzonia said:
Obviously I am very happy I've been given the opportunity to race again, particularly as Brazil is my home race. It will be very special for me to race in front of a home crowd so I can't wait. Interlagos is a great track, one which I really enjoy driving so I'm hoping to have a good weekend. The bumps make it quite a tricky circuit and a unique one when it comes to set-up of the car. The weather can be
unpredictable in Sao Paulo and I wouldn't be surprised if we had some rain this year. It was good for me to be in the car this week at Silverstone, where we tested for two days, so I now feel better prepared for the race

This will be an interesting fight between Pizzonia and Webber I reckon!

what will be interesting about watching the pizza boy qualify 2- 3 rows behind Webber? I think Mark proved the point last year.

And yet, over in the "Button is better than Webber thread" you say that he proved himself better than his teammates :!:

Yes Webber clearly out performed Pizzonia regardless of the blah blah Pizzonia said at the time however people improve, some better than others. You believe in that too don't you 8)

Pizzonia in the Williams impressed last year when he replaced Ralf and this year he did well beating Webber in Italy with virtually no notice.

Webbers result in Italy was due to a race incident. Pizzonia's result in Belgium was what? Before he punted of Monty he was also stuck behind Monteiro for way too long.

I don't know how the bloke still gets a drive.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

Williams are not saying who will drive in Japan, and China. There is a strong rumour that Rossberg will be given a drive, Heidfield has signed a 3 year contract with Sauber-BMW so Williams are understandably shy about having him near any development work.

Oh I forgot Webber ran into Coulthard at the start. Running into the back of another car is just an incident. But Pizzonia tangling with Montoya, shock horror, he should be stripped of his license

By the number of times Webber has tangled with others I wonder if Frank is thinking that about Webber

BTW: Sir Frank regards Pizzonia highly

Jayvee, come on dont destroy Julians pink glasses he is wearing to look at his downundafella   :D :P

MARK is very fast in qualifying, all credit here. Then theres his erratic tendency in the races which is why he is not where MICHAEL, KIMI, FERNANDO and JENSON are.

I offer EVENS about MARK beating ANTONIO in the GP of Interlagos, would you take that, Julian?

thats a bit harsh isnt it? unless you've seen a clip what led up to the incident.. although ive still yet to find a video of the actual incident.. From what ive read/ heard, pizzonia was just overtaking him but monty didnt expect it, and they just collided.. I think pizzonia is doing a better job than webber considering he's been out for so long!

greyhound, i like you style, seems like your a bettin man.. i got a tip for you, go to bethilo.com and put a spread bet on the championship index on button finishing 6th or higher by the end of the year, odds r 4/1 that he gets 6th, and hes only 5 points behind barrichello... since silverstone hes scored 25points to barrichellos 6. :-) if you take it up, do me a favour and put me down as your reference, my account number is SIF22 :)..
in my opinion thats the best bet this season, other than alonsos 20/1 to win the title at the start of the season :-)

Well I could just refer to the stewards. They after all fined Pizza man however did not even look at the Webber Coultard incident. This says a lot about it in my opinion. hehe honestly petal, do you read some of the stuff you post. Laugh a minute.

Lol, yeah i may have gone out on a limb with that last sentence, my apologies JV if it causes you any offence, I was a bit frustrated about something completely deifferent at the time. But that being said the two incidents are chaulk and cheese.
