This is the place to discuss everything related to the first round of the 2008 season taking place at Albert Park in Melbourne between the 14th and the 16th of March.

The event timetable for the Australian Grand Prix.
Friday
1st Practice 12:30 local time - 01:30 GMT
2nd Practice 16:30 local time - 05:30 GMT
Saturday
Practice 14:00 local time - 03:00 GMT
Qualifying 17:00 local time - 06:00 GMT
Sunday
Race 17:00 local time - 06:00 GMT

Top-5 at the halfway mark of Friday's first practice.................
1} Raikkonen, 1:28.458 sec
2} Button, 1:28.641 sec
3} Massa, 1:28.959 sec
4} Heidfeld, 1:29.884 sec
5} Rosberg, 1:29.962 sec
---Raikkonen, Buemi and Rosberg have run the most laps at present, with 9 laps each

---Massa appears to be on a flyer at the moment...unfortunately he couldn't sustain it the entire lap..........
---Rosberg now jumps up to 2nd on the charts w/a 1:28.501 sec

Top-5 at present: Kovalainen, Raikkonen, Rosberg, Button, Barrichello
No surprise seeing Ferrari and the Silver Arrows.............bet'ya everyone's watching the two Brawn entries at the moment, though............

T & S is reporting a car has stopped on-track..............looks to be the Red Bull of Sebastien Vettel; track still green, however

......an even bigger surprise at present is seeing Alonso shotgun on the whole field in 20th; hasn't even run one flying lap yet.........

S1--Barrichello, 28.9 sec
S2--Kovalainen, 23.5 sec
S3--Barrichello, Kovalainen & Rosberg, 35.0 sec

Approaching sixty minutes into session #1..........Barrichello still tops on the timing charts
Raikkonen resets fastest S1 time[28.8]...........fastest in S2(23.3)..................34.5 in sector 3; the Iceman takes 1st in the session!

Looks like he's flying again; drops S1 time to 28.6....................remains 1st in the session

In case anyone's wondering how Alonso's doing............don't worry, he's now in 7th at present w/a time of 1:28.613 sec at present(8 laps competed)
