JEREZ 1997

Post by Julian Mayo » Wed Sep 20, 2006 10:48 am

Grandprix.com is running a story comlete with video of what really happened in Jerez, 1997, titled "the truth will out?"
The Sauber driver,Fontana, claims that he was approached by Jean Todt and told that he must block Villeneuve if possible, to help Schumaker win the title.
The Ferrari engined Sauber driver claims that he was able to do so, and cost Jaques about 3 seconds. It is interesting viewing.
I wonder what other goodies will emerge now that Scummi, ooops, Schumaker is retiring. :?:

Many stories could come up, just look at late Lady Di`s butler who makes a halfway decent living from feeding the press...

However, even if Jean Todt tried to apply team tactics at times you have to differentiate and see that this is not MICHAELs job or responsibility. Re.Jerez he blocked JAQUES and took the blame. If another FERRARI engined car tried to look after the team`s interests is not within the responsibilities of their No.1 driver.

As I understand it, FERRARI are going to be blamed endlessly by some people whereas other teams get away with similar things. I can remember quite a few times when DAVID "helped" MIKA, GIANCARLO "helped" FERNANDO etc. but this wont be discussed here because there is no lobby for it.

I dont care, but Julian you may be convinced of all the negativity about MICHAEL and so are others may it be. If it makes you happy.... 8)

Do not shoot the messenger, I looked at the vidoe, as soon as I heard Murray Walkers voice, I was transported to another time, another place.
Actually, as soon as I heard his call of that race I could recall the entire race  .
FIG, I cannot stand for any rigging of any race, or event, by anybody anywhere........ask the under 9's Nippers from Newport.
I have said many times that i am only anti Scummi, and his cohorts, ........GV in the red car was something I will treasure.......my dream is to find and buy the Ferrari 250LM I drove as a 15 yo around Pukekohe Circuit in NZ 8)
