It sort of ties in with what I've been writing about on the "Would Somebody Say Something About Renault Launch Control?" thread. Renualt have a beefed up transmission and gearbox and a philosophy of weight at the rear of the car. Whereas Honda have the opposite philosophy of shedding weight at the rear, making their gearbox out of carbon fibre has been a particularly high profile exercise. I have maintained for some time that Renault have the optimum car for the Tilke track design era. With all those second gear corners it pays to have an a back end that will give you traction out onto the straight leading to another 2nd gear bend or if your really lucky a hairpin!F1-NUT wrote:This is an engineer's problem, not a driver's problem. It's not eating me or anyone else up as far as I can see - I think this is a healthy discussion regarding the nature of racing. People who disagree don't need to 'make up', as you suggest. They can just 'agree to disagree'. We should not be frightened of debate and discussion and disagreement. We're not clones, so bring it on. As long as arguments don't get personal and abusive, then they're great. So stop your worrying Snowy, it's not exactly pistols at dawn just yet...Snowy wrote:This could go on forever and everI put it to you all that we should let this one go and get on with the season in hand which is quite enough to be going on with
If we beat ourselves up about whether or not we like or dislike someone's driving or character it isn't going to change them. So we need to deal with objective things as often as possible and let the subjective things remain just that and don't dwell or them or they'll eat us up

As the Bonzo's once said 'lets make up and be friendly'
Anyway, bringing it back to Button. What do people think of his racing persona (not the cheeseball in the pits) but on the track?

He put up one hell of a fight on lap oneF1-NUT wrote:Anyway, bringing it back to Button. What do people think of his racing persona (not the cheeseball in the pits) but on the track?[/color]
He was definately suffering from tyre problems, he only had one less lap of fuel in qualifying and was half a second faster than everyone else. But no one on this forum mentioned that so I must have imagined that aswell
I think Jenson is a fighter and a clean competitor, he has a desire to win the world championship which has led to some conflict with regards contracts
ps I just wanted to head any animosity off at the pass

We can only hope that happens with Rubens - just for his sake. It's so EMBARASSING! His brakes worked by the way, it's just that he 'can't work them'...but give him time, maybe a season or two Like JPM and he'll be there, heh. I was a big fan of JPM but he's only pushing this season as he hasn't got a ride next year and wants to impress. Still, liked his season so far this year!! Some gerat side by side action with Kimi and shame his car died, but I suppose he did shag the undercarriage on the concrete.F1greyhound wrote:Re. blame on RUBENS, another completely ignorant approach, remember how long JUAN PABLO took to adapt to the MCLAREN. By the way RUBENS did a faster lap in the GP than JENSON who was (rightly!) complaining about the tyres. RUBENS is a top notch driver and if he says his brakes dont work, THEY DONT WORK. Hell be joining JENSON at the top soon...
Is it really 3 bloody weeks to wait ?

Coming back on topic, as Ive stated before watch out for JENSON, the likely winner of the 2006 Melbourne GP....
Stirling Moss won races and was feared by other competitors. He simply never won a championship though he was close on occasion.
If anything Button resembles Chris Amon.

The discussion on Michael Schumacher and his incidents with Hill and Villeneuve has been moved to a new topic (Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve).
Please understand that splitting topics isn't an easy task as some posts are mixed discussing the main topic and the split one. It is a very long process to actually split individual posts to keep them in the right thread but we tried our best to separate the two topics. If there are any posts that you feel should be in the other thread please PM me.

Ferrari gave him a car set up to suit his style and allowed him to right foot brake, Honda are not making changes to suit one style per driver. i guess he will just have to learn, hope it doesnt take too long.
PS Hi Snowy
I'm in shape

An F1 Idiot!!!
Okay, just to show I'm not a hater, I picked ole Jensy to win San Marino from Alonso [who I really think is going to win] and Nico Rosberg.
I had picked Alonso to win from Jens and Nico, but I believe he could take the race if the Renaults have some trouble. The Honda is fast enough to get pole [although I chose Alonso to get pole]. Isn't Imola one of those circuits where pole position puts you on the funky side of the track?
We shall see! Jensy is tied for second with Schkruey.

Jenson testing in Barcelona has set some good times on first laps out of the pits today. However the car is not setting consistent times over the following laps. Fernando is banging in lap after lap of consistently outstanding laps. Michael has put in some consistent laps this afternoon after he and Massa spent most of the morning in the pits (no idea why). Kimi is second fastest but didn't run much in the morning and his times seem a bit oddly eratic (no idea why).
Rubinho is not performing very well today
however he seemed more comfortable in the car yesterday. And was outpacing Antony.
I really hope Honda can sort out their tyre issues so we can get on with some toe to toe racing in Eurp
PS Hi Gho Gho the bunny has eaten through my usb cable so I'm only communicating with the outside world via dail up.
Send help I can no longer control his appetites
