Sep.28 (GMM) Ron Dennis in Singapore gave a resounding thumbs-up to formula one's first night event.
The McLaren boss was so delighted with this weekend's action, taking place under floodlights in the Asian city-state, that he can imagine night grands prix back in Europe.Night racing for F1 is the brainchild of the sport's chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, who wants races in the southern hemisphere to take place in better timeslots for European television. He has played down suggestions the concept was so successful in Singapore that existing European events might be asked to run at night. But Dennis told reporters: "It could be used in Europe to bring us into night and we can change the viewing times. It can be used now to glamorise formula one even more."Everything has been proven to work (in Singapore) and we can take this model and apply it anywhere."The Briton was impressed by the spectacle of the floodlit street circuit in Singapore's Marina Bay."The really impressive thing relates to the lighting. There are very few places that don't look even better at night because they are beautifully lit and it is the same of this city," Ron Dennis said.
