Jun.28 (GMM) Lewis Hamilton has declared that he does not ever intend to race for a formula one team other than McLaren.
The 23-year-old burst onto the scene in 2007, and at the beginning of this year it was announced that he had inked a contract to stay with the Mercedes-powered outfit until at least the end of 2012."I plan to drive for McLaren my entire career," Hamilton told the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport in an interview to be published late next week, on the eve of his home British grand prix at Silverstone."I have a great contract and would be delighted if the cooperation continues beyond it," he added.Hamilton, who finished last season's championship runner-up and is currently ten points behind the lead in 2008, describes his relationship with Woking based McLaren as "unique"."The team takes a lot of the pressure off of its drivers. It is like in a big family for me -- I have been with them since 1997," he added, harking back to when team boss Ron Dennis first began to support his karting career.Hamilton said he has treated the difficult times this year as lessons."Even after an extremely bad weekend you have to get over it quickly," he said. "You have to learn what you can and move on."At the beginning of the year I was surprised by how much pressure I was putting on myself."Now I just have to say to myself, 'Hey, the year is long. Use your energy for the next race, not the last one'."
