In 2012 Werner received a BMW cockpit at the Schnitzer Team. At the Norisring race he finished 10th and achieved his first point. His best result was a fourth place and an overall 9th place, while his teammate Bruno Spengler became DTM champion. Additionally he took part in the 2012 Rolex Sports Car series. In 2013 he stayed with the Schnitzer Team. At the inaugural race of the season at Hockenheim he finished second and achieved his first podium. At the end of the season he finished 13th overall.
