Content Link Ads

In the last couple of days we've introduced a new adverstising package called Content Link. We are trialing it to supplement our revenue.
Content Link works like this: Certain words in a post show a link to a product or service relating to that word. When a user moves the mouse over that word a small window appears with more information on a product relating to that word.

We've had a few comments already on those ads so we would like to know your opinion so we can make a decision on whether to keep them or not.

You keep these forums alive and your opinion counts so let us know.

As I said before, I dont really have a problem with them, they are just a bit irritating...

I accidentally clicked on the wrong option, I was meant to click on the one saying 'acceptable if they help the site'.......

That is OK <T-K>

If people think they are annoying/irritating, we'll most likely take them off.

Ed,
i find them annoying and would prefer to see them removed, but if the income is required to keep the forums and the site going then do what must be done.

They do make the pages take a little longer to load, but overall I don't mind them. I understand that advertising helps the forum pay for itself.

They are slightly annoying but if it keeps the site going then I will gladly put up with them. I love this site. :D

I have to say that I prefer not to have them. But if it's the only way to keep things going then do it.

Thanks for the responses and the support

We'll run them for a few weeks then evaluate the situation.

In the meantime if they become increasingly annoying or are causing problems please let us know.
Of course if you started to like them let us know too

Thanks again for understanding.

I hope that I can get along with them, however they are currently distracting, strangely attractive a bit like cooties! I never click on anything like these ads and anyone using the internet would be well advised not to click on anything like these ads, as some of them might belong to Hackers or Spammers who are looking for an opportunity to turn your computer into a zombie!

You may think I'm paranoid which would be a correct assumption as I have a firewall(Zonealarm), latest anti-virus updates, ad-aware, spybot, spywareblaster, spywareguard and I still don't feel safe.

These ads may be necessary, like the ones during my beloved GP's but I don't like 'em, I will never accept them, will always resent their presence and if ever my computer plays up I will blame 'em for it!

All of that is unreasonable and inflexible and irrational I know, however I am all of those things when it comes to advertising, I think it is pernicious and underhanded and preys on the weaknesses of individuals and God knows we all have weaknesses......whilst there still here....is there a cure for my haemorrhoids in that list, or do I have to write piles?

I also do find them annoying but, in the interests of the forums, I do see them as a means to an end. Money makes the world go round.

Do you know how difficult it is to get men to discuss these type of health issues?
