Predict Fastest Lap Time - 2006 Bahrain GP (JayVee closest!)

The 2006 F1 season is about to start (finally :TOTW: ) and our prediction competitions are back too :D

So go ahead and have a crack at the Fastest Lap time of the Race. Lets see who can be closest to predict the Fastest Lap time during the 2006 Bahrain F1 race.
If someone gets a perfect match or near perfect (+/- 0.1 seconds), we'll give away a prize. (A choice between an Digital Alarm Clock and a Stopwatch).
And an even better prize if you get the time and the driver (A pair of Binoculars) and better still if you get the time, the driver and the lap number (A USD $100 instant gift certificate or equavilent from a choice of suppliers!)

Please include the time to the 1000's of a second, the driver and the lap number. You can if you wish include a wet time as well (:excuse: in Bahrain   :conf2: - hey you never know!)

For reference, the Fastest Lap time from the 2005 race in Bahrain (Sakhir) was 1:31.447 (Pedro de la Rosa) on lap 43

Race in 2005 was run under very hot conditions. It is expected the race will be much cooler this year.
The cars were running V10 engines last year. This year they are running V8 engines.
This year a number of teams tested at the track. Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari set the fastest time in a 2006 spec car with a 1:30.723

The Fine Print
One entry (dry and wet) per user with one change per condition allowed. Entries close prior to the start of qualifying session on Saturday
The winner will be the one who manages to predict the closest time. You need to be within 0.1 seconds of the fastest lap time to be declared the winner.
In case of two players predicting the same time and driver, the player who submitted earlier will be the winner.
Changing time and/or driver is allowed only once and the change cannot be a max or min to try and gain advantage (eg. if the highest fastest time posted is a 1:45.345, a player cannot change their time to a time above that)

WHAT! This is just crazy, if anyone gets it right it'll just be a quirk of fate, I've probably got as much chance as an F1 Grease Monkey of getting it right, the variables are almost infinate. Even if you an F1 driver in the fastest car it would still be bloody hard. Crazy.

Quite so K but infinite improbability makes it just a mere trifle :D What you need is a nice hot cup of tea. Grab a hold of your towel and have a dip :coffee:

Is that how you spell trifle? :?

Are you sure you read the small print K?

C'mon K - have a go. If you get it, you'll be forever known as Special K - and thats a title to live up too!

My tip, with commentary for extra points:

"Lap 39 and Rubens is on the charge. He needs to put in some quick times in order to have a chance at taking P1 from JPM at the next stop . . . WOW that is a blistering first sector . . . . [message truncated] . . . at a 1:32:000 flat from Rubens . . . fastest lap of the day"

Actually I didn't but it doesn't change point significantly.

It may sound crazy K but we love it and the people here love it and in fact a number of players have won in both the Predict Fastest Lap and Predict Pole. On one occassion a player got a perfect time.

As for the probability, sure it is low but it is a prediction competition. For the first few races of the season, it will be difficult but after that people will be able to look at the fastest times for previous years and try to predict it for this year. Sure there are many variables, too many in fact but you could find a range of times that a fastest lap or a pole time will most likely be in, divide that range by 0.1 of a second and you'll find that the possiblities may not exceed 30 or 40 at most and that isn't too hard.
Yes to get an exact time with the driver and lap number is very very hard but you never know.

Have a look at this thread and at this thread , it lists the winners of those two prediction competitions in 2005 (hopefully I have time soon to update the last few races  )
and let me just quote this form the latter thread:
Pole time has been predicted to the tenth of a second 9 times so far.
3 times the predicted time was within a hundredth of a second
And once it was exact!
That is remarkable.
You could try
