MW is one of the better qualifiers in the field. He proved that last year, and in the Jag. . . I think he only made one mistake in my book last year in qualifying which was in China where the car got away from him on the flyer.

Slight argument from me. I rate him as one of the Best Qualifyers..........er you haven't done anything to Lauda doors along with badcooky have you ?

Then Mark Webber gets up on to the top deck of the podium with a grumpy face becuase he doesnt want to win, he wants to win with everyone else on track . . .

I said a few times last year that MW was in an education phase of his career. Finally running with the big boys when meerly scoring points wasn't acceptable. He crashed a few times, made a couple of mistakes but by the end of the year was running much more consistently & putting in some good performances despite the lack of pace of the BMW Williams (relative to renault, mclaren etc).

This year he has no excuses. He "seems" to have a quick reliable car, he has the neccessary experience & he now even has 7 gears which should aid the notoriously poor starts of the Williams. He is a recognised good qualifier, with the new Q rules he should have an even greater advantage. He has the ability, he has a good car (renault & honda are obviously still the ones to beat) this could be a make or break year.

Now I'm not suggesting if he struggles he will be booted. He is a much better driver than most in the F1 paddock but if he does struggle his value will fall dramatically. His value stagnated last year, he needs another good year so people will take notice. MUST finish top 3 or 4.

I concur. With the positive results from the testing, I think it's his big opportunity to grab the bull by the horns. Now, if he can just steer clear of other drivers...

watching Barra struggle with the transition to Honda makes me think that Mark Webber is even better than I thought. To jump from the minardi pedal car to that god-awful Jag and promptly ring its neck with pole etc, then into last years a#%& burning williams with no complaint. Little wonder he was recently awarded the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy for Driving Ability.
