On Tuesday the 17th of January, the BMW Sauber F1 team unvieled their 2006 contender - the F1.06.

The team aims to gather experience and work their way up as soon as possible. BMW Motorsport Director and BMW Sauber F1 team principal Mario Thiessen said:
We have worked hard over the last seven months. We?ve driven forward the integration of the two locations, got an interim car up and running, signed up the drivers, concluded contracts with our major partners Petronas, Intel, Credit Suisse and O2 along with other sponsors, and negotiated 90 work contracts for new staff. That?s not bad as an interim progress report. But we are not under any illusions: we have a long road ahead of us. 2006 is a year of transition, and so would be premature to declare any sporting objectives. The main thing is that everything is pointing in the right direction.
The team plans a private 3 day test session at the Valencia track before joining other teams next week in Barcelona.

Top 3 would be too ambitious even if JV is driving :D

The car looks very much a Williams ? even the driver overalls ??

Can you please post a JV photo :D

And it looks pretty ordinary though   , perhaps if someone posts the image of last year's Sauber one can see if there are many differences

The new BMW Sauber F1.06 hit the track at Valencia. The team is conducting a 3 day private test session. After a minor problem, both Heidfeld and Villeneuve completed a number of laps with the new car.

Heidfeld was fastest with a 1:13.430. (Fastest time at Valencia from 2005 was a 1:09.009)

No worries JayVee, here are two photos, one for Villeneuve and the other for Heidfeld (to be fair!)

We'll look in our archives for a 05 Sauber photo so you can compare!

Yep, they must be Nicks tho. They would both look a tad silly peeking out over the collar of one of Webber's
