Open Wheel Trivia VI

Post by mlittle » Sat Oct 15, 2005 1:24 pm

With the major racing series' seasons winding down for the year, I thought....has there ever been any "crossover" champions; i.e. anyone who's won championships in NA motorsports AND/OR Formula 1. With that, here are the questions for Open Wheel Trivia VI.

NOTE:Please PM the answers to me by Midnight(12:00 AM), US EDT, 29 October 2005. Since no one answered the call for rd.5, the standings are still as they were prior to the round. Have fun with the questions, enjoy, and good luck!!
NOTE 2:I normally don't give hints as to the answers, but here's one...all these questions have to do with the Indianapolis 500. Now, the questions...

1}Name the drivers who have won both the Indianapolis 500 and the Formula 1 World Championship?

2}Name at least 5 of the 12 Formula 1 WDC's who have driven in the Indy 500?(2 pt. bonus if you can name all 12 of them)

3}How many drivers have won both the Indy 500 and the Indy Racing League championship?

4}Two drivers have won both the Indy 500 and NASCAR's Daytona 500. Who are they?

5}Two drivers have won both the Indy 500 and the 24 Hrs. of LeMans. Who are they?

6}How many drivers have won both the Indy 500 and F1's Grand Prix of Monaco in their respective careers?

7}What four-time Indy 500 winner has also won the Rolex 24 Hrs. of Daytona?

Questions 8-10 ask who is the only driver to win the following events/titles in their respective careers.....

8}Indy 500, Daytona 500, 24 Hrs. of LeMans, 24 Hrs. of Daytona
9}Indy 500, Daytona 500, the F1 WDC(in 1978), and 24 Hrs. of Daytona
10}Indy 500, 24 Hrs. of LeMans, F1 GP-Monaco and the F1 WDC(2-time WDC)

Good luck, and enjoy!!

As in round 4, only one person sent in answers(thanks, lemon!)....and here are the answers:

1}Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi and Jacques Villeneuve have won both the Indy 500 and the Formula 1 WDC.

2}Alberto Ascari, Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Sir Jackie Stewart, Denis Hulme, Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Mario Andretti, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell and Jacques Villeneuve are the F1 WDC's who have raced in the Indy 500.

3}Only one; Dan Wheldon, 2005.

4}A.J. Foyt, Jr,(4-time Indy 500 winner, 1972 Daytona 500 winner) and Mario Andretti(1969 Indy 500 winner and 1967 Daytona 500 winner).

5}A.J. Foyt, Jr and Graham Hill are the only drivers to win at Indy and at Le Mans.

6}Graham Hill(1966-Indy 500; 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968 and 1969 GP Monaco) and Juan Pablo Montoya(2000-Indy 500 and 2003 GP-Monaco)

7)2 drivers, A.J. Foyt, Jr, and Al Unser, Sr.

8}A.J. Foyt, Jr.
9}Mario Andretti
10}Graham Hill

With the results in, lemon_martini2 scores five pts. this round, and the standings are:

1}Lemon_Martini2 21.5 pts
2}JayVee 21.0 pts
3}Julian Mayo 9.0 pts

One round remains, and it's a two-way race to the end. Who will win? Stay tuned...round 7(the concluding round of the exhibition season) will be up in a few days. Good luck!

NOTE:Apologies for the points error following round 4; lemon did not have 13.5 pts but 16.5 pts. Sincerest apologies on the mistake.
