Hey people, with Red Bull buying minardi, they plan on changing the name to red bull *something or other*.
If you want to do what you can to keep minardis name, why not sign this petition with the disillusioned optimism that Red Bull will give consideration to what the fans think of F1.

Personally I think I have more chance of seeing a return to slicks and real overtaking, but we do what we can.

glad to see the minardi minnows are getting some support

hopefully everyone who posts on this site will show their appreciation for minardi's contribution to the sport over the past 20 years.
Also, what is your favourite minardi moment? I think mine is seeing Webber cross the line in fifth in Melbourne with Stoddy cheering him across the line. heartbreaker

Why should we care?
In every series(F1, IRL, CCWS, etc.) there are always back-marker teams that get no respect but every so often are the first stops a driver makes on their way to more powerful teams in their series. Case in point(mentioned in the ChampCar forum)....Dale Coyne Racing(ChampCar's equivalent to Minardi). They're always at the back of the CC grid most races, but back in the early 1990's(91', to be exact), Dale Coyne took a flyer on a stocky kid from West Hill, Ontario, Canada at Long Beach named Paul Tracy....and 14 yrs. later PT's got 29 CC wins, one title(2003), and a long, successful career marked by stays with Penske, Newman-Haas, Team Green, and now Forsythe. But back to F1...if I'm not mistaken, didn't Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber get their starts with the Faenza-based team? I rest my case.

Alonso and Mark were both chosen by Stoddard to drive for Minardi.

Yes, and now they're both driving for bigger teams, Alonso w/Renault and Webber w/Williams.

What difference will it make to the sport?
What about tyrrel, stewart, jaguar, lotus, arrows, jordan, ats, benneton, dallara, zakspeed, toleman, prost, lola, fondmetal to mane but a few?
all made their contribution and disappeared with no real consequences.

Not really---Tyrrell became BAR...Jaguar became Red Bull...Toleman became Benetton became Renault...
I wish they would increase the grid size so new teams would be able to come in to the sport rather than having to buy in if they did.Wouldn't it be great to have Jaguar AND Jordan AND Midland AND Sauber AND BMW on the grid?
And when you look at Minardi, you have to look at who else was round in their area of the grid when they began-little Continental teams like Coloni,Fondmetal,Osella,Zakspeed,Rial.Hardly any of them made it past the early 90s but Minardi managed to keep going for 20 years.
