It was confirmed today that Mark Webber will bring together the most ubiquitous elements of Australian national life by combining perhaps the world?s most iconic landmark with sporting excellence. He will cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge in a Williams BMW Formula One car on Sunday February 27, a week before the 2005 season commences at the Melbourne Grand Prix on March 6, 2005 ... more

So if you are a Sydneysider or lucky enough to be in Sydney on the 27th, head to Hickson Rd Reserve at The Rocks where Channel 10 will have their live footage on a superscreen.

The Bridge will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians, for Webber's Overdrive, which will be run under strict safety conditions

UPDATE: Channel 10 will broadcast the event from 8:00 AM

Given the state of Sydney roads, he will need physio afterwards. And if there's a sydney cabbie within a kilometre, scratch one williams :danger:

F1 needs to do more then a bridge crossing to convert people to the sport.
It needs an adversary for Michael Schumacher.

Mark Webber crossed the Syndey Harbour bridge this morning in a Williams F1 Car ... more

Went there this morning and the sound of the BMW across the bridge was awesome!

Webber was a bit nervous at the start but then settled down and started to put in some faster runs. The surface was so bumpy though!

It was a pity they didn't let people on the bridge but at least Sydney got a glimpse of a Formula 1 car finally!

And Webber didn't do any doughnuts :(

He spoke to channel 10 and didn't rate his chances. He expects the other top teams not to have reliability issues in Melbourne (but maybe in Malaysia) and that they could finish a disspointing 7th or 8th

I know Williams are known to keep expectations low but this is dissapointing!
