I'm not sure Alonso will do as well as others think. His car looked a bit off the pace in Spa.

well, chaps. It appears that few have time to explain their pics, these days. I know I'm less interested in the other picking contests, b/c the people seem less race fans than nerds and techies.
I'm still trying to make sense of this season

; it looks to me like McLaren's hard work is beginning to pay off, though and Jenson may well take the pole AND the race.
I don't have a clue as to what is going on in Lewis's head these days.
Kimi, too, is an enigma.
Oh well, here's my attempt to get myself back into the top one hundred at least:
Winner: Kimi Raikkonen ---AT LAST!
2cd: Jenson Button ---for the third year in a row.

3rd: Fernando ---it's their home race and Fernando is a miracle maker
4th: Sebastian Vettel ---I know he won last year, but that was last year
5th: Lewis Hamilton ---one place lower than last year, but it's crowded at the top these days!

6th: Webbo ---he could get a podium, but his luck is just awful lately
7th: Rosberg ---the Merc could do better than this; depends how much wing they take out
8th: Kobayashi ---I just have a feeling Sauber's coming back

9th: Schuey ---It would be ironic and fitting for this to be his last victory, yes. But I think we've already seen it.
10th: Perez ---now that the Frenchman is out of the way and the wild Maldonado is wondering if he's next, Perez could get a point
Pole: Raikkonen (and he should run the race from the pole like Jenson did last week)
Good luck with your picks & let's hope its a clean race with no less than 22 cars finishing.

Hi Jim,
Like you I think, I believe McLaren is the fastest at the moment. Red Bull is not far behind.
Kimi, as you say, is not easy to predict. He is a contender for the drivers championship and could well win in Italy. Lotus is in the race for second in the constructors- what I think is that they are fast but not very consistent.
I can't see Alonso on the podium, despite his talent. I may be wrong.
But the Ferrari is a decent car, and with Massa pressed for results I see both drivers in the points.
That leaves Mercedes, which should be at a relative advantage with its straight line speed, however Sauber, Force India and Williams are close and could outperform the Mercedes.

I do wonder whether Hamilton's more interested in money and his own image than racing. There's a suggestion that moving to Mercedes would increase his 'global brand' status, and his agents are apparently the same lot that Beckham use (plus Mercedes is a bigger brand, beyond F1, than McLaren).

Sorry Jim. I haven't explained my picks becasue basically I have no idea who or what is happening this year.
In other words no matter what I pick I am as Leonard so eloquently puts it....
Leonard: What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?
Sheldon: Screwed.
Leonard: There you go.
and that should explain it all.
