This is the place to discuss everything related to the 10th round of the 2025 season taking place in Montreal between the 13th and 15th of June.

The event timetable for the Canadian Grand Prix.

What started s a fairly typical FP1 with all drivers fighting for grip was turned on its head, particularly in the Ferrari camp.
Entering turn 3, Charles Leclerc locked his right front and, instead of taking to the escape road, collided with the barriers in the middle of the 3/4 chicane ending on the track in the middle of turn 4. Damage to his car was substantial to both left front and rear. Even worse news was that he had damaged the chassis and would take no further part in the Friday sessions.
Williams had a much better session compared to their last outing in Spain with both drivers inside the top 3.
It did seem that both the McLarens were running through a test program and finished the session in the mid field.

As expected, Charles Leclerc missed the session. The mechanics were taking their time due to the rules that scrutineering only occurs in the morning each day so there was no point in rushing the repairs.
Lance Stroll seemed distracted as he exited turn 7 and clipped the barrier with his left front. The touch seemed minor however the damage was substantial with suspension arms shattering shortly after impact. He parked his Aston Martin behind the barriers at the hairpin after advice from his team.
The rest of the session was relatively quiet, with the exception of Franco Colapinto looping his Alpine in turn 2.

FP3 and the boys came out to play.
The 'Wall of Champions' copped a bit of a pounding with Nico Hulkenberg, Oscar Piastri and Ollie Bearman all giving it a bit of a touch up.
Nico Hulkenberg incurred damage to his rear wing as the car pirouetted as he exited the chicane onto the main straight.
Oscar Piastri was next and touched up the wall with his right rear. This brought out the red flags as a decision was made to clean up the debris from the Hulkenberg incident.
Ollie Bearman was next with a massive slide this this time entering the second part of the chicane. Having lost the rear so early, he managed to hit the padding prior to the unprotected concrete. He got away with it with no damage.

Wow! What an exciting qualifying!
Q1 and, with over 5 minutes remaining in the session, Alex Albon's Williams has a massive bodywork failure on the back straight. The debris across the track caused the red flag to be thrown to enable the track marshals a safe working area to clear the track. This was a blessing in disguise as both Williams were in the drop zone. Given the time required to clear the track, this enabled the mechanics their time to remove and replace the exploded bodywork. Carlos Sainz was then impeded on his final run by Isack Hadjar and failed to progress. Alex Albon fared better and progressed through to the next session at the expense of Bortoleto, Sainz, Stroll, Lawson and Gasly.
Q2 progressed without incident and, with the flag about to drop, the runs to the flag commenced. Yuki Tsunoda, who has incurred a 10 place grid penalty for passing a car while under red flag conditions finished 11th, followed by Colapinto, Hulkenberg, Bearman and Ocon.
Q3. The first runs commenced. Lando Norris made a mess of his lap as he had to cut across the final chicane negating his lap time. He did another 2 laps on this set of tyres and landed in 5th position after first runs.
The run to the flag saw both Ferrari's leave the pits a tad early to lead the bunch. Lewis Hamilton set his time while Charles Leclerc found some dirty air as he approached Isack Hadjar. His car became unbalanced through the 6 7 complex and his lap was ruined.
Oscar Piastri looked to have pole until Max Verstappen crossed the line to take it away. The next to take the chequered flag was George Russell and he took the pole from Max with a blistering lap. George was the only driver to break into the 1 minute 10's for the weekend.

Team strategies all came together as the laps wound down.
Oscar Piastri had a couple of attempts on Kimi Antonelli who was just out of DRS to Max Verstappen.
Lando Norris had the hammer down and was reeling them in. At the time the safety car came out, there were just 6 seconds covering the top 5.
Lando Norris had a dive into the hairpin but Piastri saw him coming. Piatri performed the switchback and had the inside line into the final chicane. Exiting the chicane, Piastri moved towards the left covering the racing line. Norris had a run but, rather backing out, went for the smallest of gaps and hit the left rear wheel of Piastri's McLaren. Norris' front wing broke, went under the front of his car and he ended in the wall. Clean up time used up the remaining laps and the race finished behind the safety car.
