There were two red flags in the session.
First read flag was around the mid point of the session when Nico Hulkenberg clipped the barrier entering the chicane after exiting the tunnel. He destroyed his left rear rim but was lucky not to hit anything else.
Then with about 4 minutes remaining, Alex Albon lost the rear of his Williams entering turn 1 and ended the session in the barriers. With the limited time remaining, the decision was made not to resume FP1.

Around the 45 minute stage of the session, Carlos Sainz brought out the red flag after clipping the inside barrier when exiting the swimming pool complex. The car sustained a fair bit of damage after it ended in the barriers.
Alex Albon was the biggest loser as his Williams team had just completed the repairs from his incident in FP1 and only had about 11 minutes of practice in this session.

Looks like we will have an exciting qualifying session finally!

I don't understand though why qualifying will be that late, it will be midnight in Sydney!

Sergio Perez crashed in turn 1 in Q1 bringing out the red flags.
Charles Leclerc incurred a post qualifying 3 grid place penalty for impeding Lando Norris in the tunnel in the final stages of Q3.
This should drop him to position 6 on the grid.
