You have to be fir to race in V8's, thats the only thing I don't like. Remember the old Stephen Johnson? Now he kinda looks.... well fat again, but he was thin for a while. When will motor racing again be for men who know how to race AND eat a meat pie AND drink a slab after a race. I fear that V8's are becoming like cricket players. Anyone remember boonie, hughes and border. You can't tell me that d#$% Johnson or Moffat were ever fitness freaks. We need to go back to the times when the race driver was the Ballast!

Enough ranting. Should be a good race. All you kids not lucky enough to live on the top of the world in Oz should watch it.

I have to agree with most of that, although Moffat was a fitness freak.
Perhaps you mean the Geoghan Brothers? One of them, when asked about setting the car up for different corners replied, " I slide my backside along the seat".

There was a tin top driver in Oz, whose parents had a sense of humour, and I think it is a huge disappointment he is not competing in the China race.

Grice racing a ute at Bathurst many years ago is still one of my favourite memories. He found a loophole in the regs and the organisers couldn't stop him. Sensational advertising for Akubra back then

Skaife fastest in first pactice, with 1:5 sec covering the first 18 cars. Session was a mix of wet, n dry. All holdens in the top 8, then Johnson, and Lowndes

Kelly had a rocketship on the day, and now that the teams have some data, next year should be a boomer! Interesting that the track looks so wide with F1 cars on it, but there is not a lot of room for side by side V8s in some sections

The course they ran was, guess 3.something kms and the F1 course is guess a tad over 4kms
