I'm Back............

Post by mlittle » Sat Jan 23, 2010 6:46 am

In case anyone's been wondering, 'where in the **** has mlittle been?'..........its' been an interesting few months.

When I'm not following AOWR or whatever else comes by, I work a regular job in the grocery business(butcher by trade; official title is 'Journeyman Meatcutter'). Couple of months back I banged my lower left leg on a grocery float while unloading one of the numerous deliveries we get during the week. At the time, I didn't think anything of it; its' only a small flesh wound.......it'll soon get better, right?

Wrong. For whatever reason, the wound never fully healed and still continues to bother me, but it has been a struggle. Between my visits to my PCP(primary care physician), wound care specialist, phys. therapy/rehab, HR department at work, corporate HR, etc., etc., it's almost enough to make you .................(I won't finish that line, but you get the idea..........  ). Suffice it to say, it's been a struggle, but I'm still standing, clawing & fighting my way back to normalcy.

Rest assured, I'll be around for 2010. After all, someone has to keep the roust-a-bouts' in line around here........

Feel free to comment, joke, send get-well remarks, etc., etc., etc.,.......

Great to see you back mlittle. :woohoo:

Now I know why it gets drilled into us at the place that I work at that it doesn't matter how minor an accident or injury is, it must be reported straight away.

Thanks, Southernman! :)

You're exactly right; I can't count how many times they'd tell us at work, "Watch your corners, watch where you step, etc., etc."....... but you never know what's going to happen each day. At least its' getting better; that's the good thing.

Just wanted to update y'all on my health situation.....................

As far as the wounds on my legs go, they're healing up quite nicely; its' only taken 8 months or so of medical treatments to get them healed up but we've finally rounded the proverbial corner and they're well on their way to being healed............ :shine:

Unfortunately, the reason it took eight months is that I've also got lymphedema in both lower legs(essentially, lymphedema is lymph fluid that's built up in the affected limbs; the more fluid, the harder it gets for the lymphatic system to pump the excess out....throw in a couple of long-healing wounds and it becomes a sort of circular-style firing style as in, 'which do we treat first, the wound or the lymphedema?'

Well, they decided to work on the wounds first because that's what put me on disability from work(only problem there is that my work-disability runs out in December, which is when I'll go from that to Social Security.....remind me to tell y'all about that bunch of bureaucratic ****-***........) but thankfully I had the presence of mind to get the paperwork on that started early, so once I was approved for that, it will automatically kick in once the disability from work expires. But with the wounds healing as they are, they're going to begin aggressively treating the lymphedema with MLD[Manual Lymph Drainage, a/k/a lymph massage], whirlpool treatments at Rehab and so forth. I've also taken the time the past 10, 11 months to work on trying to lose weight(from everything I've read and heard, if I can lose about 10% of my current body weight[for me, about 35 lbs.....] that might help take some of the fluid away(not much, but the way this year's gone, you never know.....).......

Anyway, that's about all for now.......to quote the song, I'm still Alive and Kicking............  8) 8) :) :burnout:
