The rift between the FIA and the GPWC seems to be widening as the two continue to make announcements completely disregarding the other.

On the 7th of April 9 teams and 5 manufacturers set a timetable for what they call 'a comprehensive blueprint for Grand Prix Racing after 2007'.
They also decided not to attend the meeting called by the FIA on the 15th of April to discuss the 2008 regulations .... Full statement from GPWC

On the 15th of April, the FIA announced their own timetable for the 2008 Formula 1 regulations with the first draft to be finalised by the 27th of May and final approval by the World Motor Sport Council by the 28th of October ... Full statement from the FIA

Note that Red Bull and Jordan/Midland did attend the FIA meeting

On the 16th of June, the FIA released a draft of the proposed rule changes for the 2008 Formula One World Championship ... Full statement from the FIA

It seems the battle lines have been drawn. The worst case scenario is a split series but hopefully the 2 sides will negotiate an acceptable solution for all parties concerned.

Possibly it suits Bernie, Mosely, and Todt to make buckets of money now, and walk away from the sport in 2008,leaving it in disarray. Meanwhile screwing the smaller teams, and the fans.

There is so much uncertainty right now - Jordan/Midland & Red Bull went to the meeting; the settling of the dispute between Bernie & the banks - who knows what is going to happen?

What if the F1 control issue doesn't cause a rift that the GPWC can exploit?

What if Bernie can keep the above two teams on his side?

Is it possible for the breakaway teams to keep together until 2008 (or whatever the point of no return is)?

Hmmm...the Pope's just died,Charles has just got married,Tony Christie is at the top of the charts and Dr.Who and the Two Ronnies are big on telly and now F1 seems set for a split between two warring groups of rival manufacturers.I think my time machine is working brilliantly

I hope we don't see a series split but it sure looks like it!

If the manufacturers don't stick together now then there is no solution but Bernie's. I hope they do stick together and show Bernie, Max and Ferrari that it isn't only them that can call the shots.

Red Bull and Jordan need engines, they just want to play it safe knowing that they could be getting Ferrari engines next year (and beyond!!)

Wouldn't it be great to watch Bambinos in Red , Red Bull and Red Square in 2008

I hope the GPWC to be a success. if they do, in old F1 would stay only one manufact. - ferrari. so they and all the rest would be forced to join the new-generation F1! =)

I hope that some kindof sense will eventually prevail, but right now it does look like it. I will follow whichever series have Ferrari. Right now that is the FIA backed side.

How was that? in 1981/2 i didn't follow F1 so I don't know about it, could you tell about it? =)

We could although the current Concorde agreement will (or should) prevent anything ridiculous happening before 2008. How things will turn out in 2008 is anyone's guess.

Reading the FIA statement, it threatens the teams, sign or else

"Stakeholders will be invited to submit written comments no later than 31 July 2005. These comments will be considered by the FIA in consultation with all stakeholders who confirm their commitment to the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship"

FIA should revoke whatever deal they've done with Ferrari and start from the drawing board.
2 championships would be a disaster.

Could this be a plan by the teams & FIA to increase the viewership as the last few years of all the major F1 teams competing with Ferrari

If all the Manufacturers stick together there will only be 1 ch'ship.... theirs
I.e auto union, mercedes, lotus, etc etc., all gone! By by Ferrari. Fiat would be happy
