Ah,.... The Creek. Love it or hate it! It seems there are no in-betweens, driver and fan alike.
Set in a man-made amphitheatre, and run anti-clockwise, the track drops slightly from the grid to the sweeping left hander T1 straightens slightly to tightening radius, almost 180 degree left T2, which, climbing a bit leads straight into right T3 and over the bridge, downhill to right T4 climbs thru left T5, up the hill into the sweeping, still climbing right T6 left then right T7 up to left T8, which top out at the apex, drops sharply to right, tight down hill T9 flattens thru to the kinks T10 7 T11, climbs and sweeps left to the apex at the top of left T12, then swoops down the long, long staight to the flag......T1 is awesome, taken at the end of the first lap.
Memories..........
Larry Perkins 4 wheel drifting all the way round T2 lap after lap in practice, til he finally passed the limit, and nearly took my elbow off. (note to self.....do not lean on the wall)
Ingall being squeezed off the track by Skaife, and catching his rear as he came back on......Skaife into the wall on the right, and retirement. Next lap, as Ingall approached, a purple faced Skaife ran on to the track shaking his fist........now Ingall says he swerved towards him to see what he was shouting............, Jeez Ol Skaify can move fast when he has to
If you stuff up turn one, it can take some time for the dust to settle, your eyes to re-focus, and the giddiness to stop, then bump 300 metres back to the track, rejoin and find you have 4 Huge flat spots

I don't mind this track. Come to think of it their are very few tracks in V8's that I don't like. 8)

Team Kiwi will not be racing at the Creek....the team has a cash crisis, and FPR has terminated it's business with the team. The team may be forced into liquidation

This track tortures the right rear tyre, a well balanced (front to back) car is a must. Oversteer, or understeer will shred that tyre. The other problem at the Creek will be that western sun. I reckon some drivers will have a lot of tape on the front screen 8)
The organisers will be counting the crowds on Monday, with some apprehension, methinks.........the traditional traffic jams as Sydneysiders make a mass exodus to parts North, West, and South, on Friday afternoon will be no less for the running of a V8Supercar event. :?
