The Renault Formula 1 team announced on Friday that they will be supplying the Red Bull company with engines in 2007 and 2008.

The announcement stated that Red Bull have yet to decide which of its teams (Red Bull Racing or Toro Rosso) will use Renault engines in 2007.

Red Bull Racing have an existing agreement with Ferrari for 2007 but there are ongoing discussions to have Red Bull Racing run the Renault engines and Toro Rosso run the Ferrari engines.

Perhaps Toro Rosso Renault will beat Red Bull (detuned) Ferrari next year!

Is this another wrong place/wrong time for Webber I wonder

Red Bull announced that Red Bull Racing will use Renault engines in 2007 while Toro Rosso will use Ferrari engines.

Ferrari confirmed the agreement and they will supply Toro Rosso with Ferrari engines for 2 years with an option for a 3rd year.

Jean Todt said:
We are pleased to be embarking on a new long-term relationship with Scuderia Toro Rosso. It will allow us to strengthen our ties with the world of Italian motor sport and also to work with a team run by Gerhard Berger, our former driver and friend of Ferrari.

Does that mean a car that is not a Ferrari but Ferrari engined may eventually win a race?

Or a well-timed red flag situation like Fisi had in his Jordan a few years back.

brought out by an inverted cessna crashing on the pit straight 8) ..... :offtopic:

Renaut should supply them with equal engines to the ones they are running, unless of course Red Bull start beating the Renaults

With Newey and the engine freeze it's not entirely impossible anymore.

And the fact that they have two....well, er.....one driver who could potentially take them to the front...... 8)

Theoretically the engines should be identical......If I were in the REDBull team I would have the best engine mappers taping the sound of engines in the Renaults whenever possible 8)

He said "theoretically" :) Anyway, the difference in engine specs will cost a few tenths but the real determining factor will be the drivers. F1 will become more driver-oriented, which is cool.

Yip, now if they brought back manual g'boxes, and steel brakes :woohoo:
