Former five times 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan has been fined $2500 AD after headbutting a bouncer at a Darwin strip club in his native Australia.
Prosecutor Grant Kennedy told the court Doohan was asked to leave the Honeypot club due to his state of intoxication after he began to remove his clothes. Doohan refused to leave and, when a bouncer held his arms from behind, swung his head backwards - striking the bouncer in the mouth and causing minor injuries.
Magistrate Greg Cavanagh is reported to have told Doohan this, while he stood in court awaiting sentence.
"You, Mr Doohan, are one of our Australian heroes, a legend, a shining example of success, courage and achievement - a man a lot of young men aspire to follow. You have besmirched your reputation in a way that saddens us all. We expect our heroes to be and remain flawless, and when they reveal themselves to have all the weaknesses and faults of mere mortals, it rather upsets us."
Although pleading guilty, he claims he cannot remember the incident.

I love the defense in court though. He's won 5 titles so he should be allowed to get naked and headbutt people at will??

The same multiple Aust Superbike champ was there. He reckons Doohan would have had to climb on a stepladder to headbutt the guy
