The BMW Sauber F1 Team announced that Jacques Villeneuve will not be racing for the team for the remainder of the 2006 season.
BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen said:
Jacques has performed well for us this year, scoring the Team?s first grand prix points in Malaysia, He has made a significant contribution to developing the newly formed BMW Sauber F1 Team and the performance of the car. However, after Jacques? accident in the Hockenheim race the team decided to review its options for next year, including assessing Robert Kubica in a race environment. Our decision to look towards evaluating our driver line up has naturally impacted Jacques? position for the remainder of this season. We fully understand that it is difficult for Jacques to maintain his natural level of commitment in circumstances of uncertainty. We respect his position and wish him well for the future.

I'll be sad to see Villeneuve go. I thought he was doing an OK job this season. But I hope Kubica gets the drive. He looks like a promising driver, and it'll be interesting to see how he fares in the dry.

The F1 paddock is a lesser place, now.
Thanks Jacques, it has been interesting

Jacques has been a breath of fresh air among the often politically correct. I for one will be sad to see him go and I wish him the best in whatever he chooses to do in the future.

No stats here...i meant on consistent performance from a driver over the years,which i'm sorry to say wasnt the case from JV.But when he knew he was not the obvious choice after BMW took over the Sauber team(its only b'cos of his water tight agreement that he drove this year in BMW,not cos they wanted him too)
If u remove the WDC tag from him,his career is very similar to Ralf(u can choose any other u want) in terms of splash performances(Cant compare him to any one-time WDC,not fair to Alonso

)
I know its hurts when ones fav driver is smashed & sacked!

You want to compare drivers and leave the stats out... yeah sure that makes sense .... NOT!!!! You are entitled to your opinion however I am also entitled to mine and I think/believe you cannot tear a drivers career to shreds simply because he has only won one WDC. One is still better than many of the other good drivers out there past and present. I find your comments to be highly insulting not only to Jacques but to his supporters and believe me I am not the only one.
I don't want to get into a slanging match with you or anyone else but I will not tolerate ignorant comments.
