I, for one, wish him the best of luck........it'll be a steep learning curve, but I think he'll do okay..... :drive: :drive: 8) :burnout:
Thanks Stuart. :D

BTW, he finished 21st.........watching the race last night, I'd say ole' Jacques did alright; he kept it in one piece and kept pace throughout......needs to work on his restarts, but I think he did okay.....the only bad thing about last night's truck race was seeing two former Indy 500 winners driving trucks(Villeneuve won the 500 in 1995; the other 500 winner, Buddy Lazier, who the next year)......shows you in a sense how far the Indy 500 has slipped in NA motorsports(yet another legacy of the "Split")

Villeneuve to make Nextel Cup debut..................

Former CART and Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve will make his NASCAR Nextel Cup debut at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama next weekend. Originally scheduled to race just the Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Series races, NASCAR gave approval to Villeneuve to race in the Nextel Cup event based on the extensive testing he did a few weeks back(during the test he ran over 2x the laps of any other driver)......FWIW, I think ole' Jacques'll do okay...if he drives at 'Dega the way he drove at Vegas last week and can avoid the "big one"(because of the very close, pack-style racing at both Talladega and Daytona, one wrong twitch, slip or tank-slapper moment can cause what they call "the big one", where a good chunk of the 43-car field can be involved in the wreck.........     )

Good luck, Jacques.........racing at 'Dega, you'll need it!       :burnout: :drive: :drive:

BTW, Villeneuve finished 21st in his Nextel Cup debut Sunday at Talladega; he ran a clean race, mixed it up some and stayed out of trouble all 500 miles.......

So how did ole' Jacques do....................?

~~2 Nextel Cup starts(Talladega, started6th/finished 21st and Phoenix, started 27th/finished 41st
~~7 Craftsman Truck Series starts.................
*Las Vegas, 7th/21st
*Talladega, 10th/30th
*Martinsville, 27th/32nd
*Atlanta, 17th/14th
*Texas, 16th/25th
*Phoenix, 14th/19th
*Homestead, 3rd/36th

All-in-all, IMO he didn't do too badly..........still needs to work on his restarts, but if he drives the way did for Forsythe in CART and the way he drove the first couple of years in F1, he should do pretty decently next year....

i would call his quick dip in the nascar pool this year successfull
he out qualified many with a lot more miles under their belt's, not to say he is going to be champion or even win a race for that matter but i think he held his own for sure
