What the heck is he driving? A Rolls Royce?
Hmm, perheps he's doing a special test on something. Otherwise I cannot believe there can be that much of a difference.

Sounds like he is testing driving while having the brakes on.

Heikki has now done a 1'16.609, so they have been sandbagging for two days!

Mika has been on a simulator for a few days, reality seems to be a little more REAL and perhaps a little more frightening. Of course the reality is that 2006 F1 cars are very different from 1999 F1 cars.

Both Badoer and Kovalainen continue to improve. Badoer has now set a 1:16.317 while Kovalainen sets a 1:16.609. The rest are in the 1:17's or slower.
Hakkinen has put in a 1:32.994. I suspect he will eventually get into the 1:20's but will be very surprised if he improves further.
Remember that Hakkinen hasn't driven a Formula 1 car since 2001 so he needs to build that confidence.
Anthony Davidson is worth a mention again. He is 8th fastest in the Super Aguri!

A few days on the stimulator would not be the same as behind the wheel.

I suspect that it took them some time to adapt the car to the Bridgestone tyres. The times Kovalainen is setting now more reflects the pace of the 06 car (as compared to Ferrari).
Keep in mind that for all the teams except Ferrari and Toyota this is the final day of testing and usually they go for quick times on the last day.
Expect even quicker times later today!

Very true and add to that, Hakkinen in 2001 saw his form drop off dramatically as if he 'lost interest'.
Only they know what times he did set on the simulator but given that Ron Dennis clearly stated that this is pretty much a one off test, he knew that Hakkinen won't be setting very fast times today!

Mika does a 1'25.880. Lewis does a 1'17.077

Does anybody else suspect Anthony Davidson is actually driving a Honda and not a Super Aguri?
It's a bit suspicious that they only have one car at the test don't you think?

Welcome TheFinn!
The second post of this thread contains a direct link to the Java Window for the test session in Barcelona.
Here is the link again
So why do you think Hakkinen is testing again ?

Good point Snowy, the official team press releases call it the SF1 team interim car. That doesn't have the designation of last year's cars (SA06).
However, Super Aguri cannot just use the Honda. It could be the SA06 with a Honda rear end or something!
As for the one car, well they could be short on resources or drivers. Williams are only testing with one car and Spyker are not testing at all.
One thing for sure, if they are using a fully built Honda, they'll be some protests!
