I bet 3 G&Ts he doesn't get poleJayVee wrote:Building a bigger lead ....
Winner: Fernando Alonso (The Renault will be close to McLaren but it is ability that counts)
Second: Kimi Raikkonen (Will have to settle for second)
Third: Juan Pablo Montoya (nearly beats his teammate)
Fourth: Giancarlo Fisichella (makes up the top 4)
Fifth: Jenson Button (best of the rest)
Sixth: Jarno Trulli (good qualifying result helps)
Seventh: Nick Heidfeld (I mean Pizzonia, this will be a make or break race)
Eighth: Rubens Barrichello (gets a bit of a boost from the home crowd)
Pole: Fernando Alonso (of course)
And what is your ranking ?Julian Mayo wrote: I bet 3 G&Ts he doesn't get pole
You are assuming Kimi will win yet you acknowledge the unreliability of the Merc!!Jim Watt wrote:Not to worry, Jay Vee; not only will he not take the pole, he'll have the painful task of explaining why the WDC isn't leading in race wins!![]()
I'm down somewhere in the 400's myself --owing to my persistent (& wholly irrational!) affection for the red cars plus the unreliablity of the Ilmore/Merc powering [?] Kimi's car!!

The best bet is Alonso for Pole even if he doesn't get it he is likely to be 2nd or 3rd.
Picking Raikkonen or Montoya would be risky as they are likely to have engine problems and drop 10 places

You picked Alonso for pole.
With me so far?....good.
I am prepared to bet 3 g&ts that he does not get pole.
Still with me?....good.
The End.

The End
Jim, both Alonso The Cute and Raikkonen have 6 wins each (Kimi won Spa and The Cute didn't win Silverstone)Jim Watt wrote:![]()
I think by the 17th round even the Ilmore guys have figured out that they REALLY NEED to make sure all the parts on the race engines have been checked out, even if they ARE brand new! So I expect Kimi to take the last three races.
In fact, I was pretty sure someone was going to point out to me that Fernando won't have to explain the discrepancy between his WDC and the greatest number of wins UNTIL Kimi wins the last three races, which, of course, being a true believer, I think he will.
Right now, of course, Fernando the Cute has Seven Wins (Malaysia, Bahrain, Imola, Nurburgring, Magny Cours, Silverstone & Hockenheim); at season's end, Kimi will have EIGHT: the five he has already won (Barcelona, Monaco, Montreal, Budapest & Istanbul) plus Interlagos, Suzuka & Shanghai)
Because I'm a gentleman I won't mention how many races Kimi's already been robbed of and how many Fernando the cute got as gifts.![]()
I hope this isn't a jinx on the Finn. Of course, given the kind of luck he's had so far, it's hard to see how it COULD get worse!
Cheers Race fans!
