I agree fully about what has been said re.RUBENS statements. A pity because he is a very good driver and usually a nice chap.
Re.JENSON IMO he has been extremely talented right from the start, his first season was very impressive given the equipment at hand. In 2004 only the FERRARIs could beat him, remember the many podiums he made that season including at least 1 pole. In 2006 he won a tough GP in Hungary and 2009 finally sees him in the best car(so far..). You first have to achieve 7 faultless GPs in a row beating everything before questioning his performance. His driving in fact is particularly smooth, and while everyone can have his personal ranks of drivers, be realistic.

Button's first season was in 2000. He scored 12 points.
He was teammate to Ralf Schumacher who scored 24 points (not that Ralf was particularly quick)
At the end of the season he was dumped
Impressive ? I don't think so!
Yes in a dominant car he'll win but when he struggles he can't manage. That's my view

Julian, the funny thing is that RALF was comparable if not quicker than MARK who you hail and write in a FERNANDO etc. category.
RALF looked good against his team mates incl.JUAN........ahh, and didnt he win some races and go quite close in one or two Championships?
This topic is about RUBENS though and how he handles defeat. He now got the chance to beat JENSON, however it looked less than impressive.

Yeah laughable really, RALFs career in F1 compared to MARK:
Seasons 11 - 8
Grand Prix 180 - 131
Victories 6 - 0
2. 6 - 3
3. 15 - 3
4. 19 - 3
5. 17 - 5
6. 12 - 10
Pole Positions 6 - 0
Front row 19 - 4
Fastest laps 8 - 0
Laps led 353 - 16
Km led 1644 - 142
Points 329 - 136
Taken from the RTL database. You can easily see RALF was no slouch, particularly not against MARK..

yeah he did good, and I must say importantly he did not make any negative excuses for finishing where he did, which is nice to hear for a change. It is probably a result of beating his team mateJulian Mayo wrote:Barra enjoyed his Silverstone drive, and I enjoyed watching him drive around the inherent problems in the car. It takes talent to do that.
Barrichello comments for silverstone:
I’m happy because all in all I took some points out of Jenson, ..... Jenson has been quite strong in every race this year. Let’s say he birdied the first holes, I hope he bogeys the next ones and I can birdy. It’s pretty much like that.
his moods seem to be heavily driven on where he finishes against his team mate - which is understandable to a point since he is more or less fighting for the cchampionship. But lets see how he continues with races to come; I personally would like to see more action and less talk from this driver to be impressed, - thats just me personally because I have been following him for many years.

Go find Ralf "chicane" Schumakers results in DTM, and why he is currently yet again finding excuses.

This is not about DTM or driving closets around a race track..
Would you judge MIKA, HEINZ HARALD or JEAN based on their DTM performance? Or BERND SCHNEIDER the other way around - why didnt the major F1 teams sign him?
RALF had a good car for 2 seasons, MARK now has it for the first time, we shall see.
Back to RUBENS, unfortunately against MICHAEL and now JENSON he is a clear No.2, not based on team orders but on merit.
PS.latest news is he raced in Silverstone with severe back pain which handicapped him...

Sorry to bump this post again, looks like Barrichello had a bit of a cry again, Ross Brawn was not impressed...
I feel sorry for him a little bit, but once again I dont think team did anything wrong . His Germany race was effectively lost being stuck behind Massa, ... but that is a bit of disrespect to his team i must say...Jul.12 (GMM) Despite Sir Frank Williams believing Rubens Barrichello's post-race comments were a "red card offence", the Brazilian's own team boss has played down the outburst.
After leading early but ultimately finishing just sixth, 37-year-old Barrichello said the Nurburgring had been a "good show from the team on how to lose a race", adding he did not want to go to the post-race debrief because "it will be all 'bla bla bla'".
His former team boss Eddie Jordan was concerned the outburst was a "grave mistake", but Ross Brawn put it down to sheer frustration and "passion".
"That's a frustrated racing driver," said Brawn, when he heard about Barrichello's comments.
"When you get out of a car
thinking you should have won a race, and you haven't got all the facts, that can happen.
"It's a passion some drivers have," he added, noting that Barrichello had not been kept fully informed during the race due to a faulty radio.
"Once he has calmed down ... sits down and looks at all the numbers he will realise we were too slow. There was no capacity to win the race," Brawn said.
In Brawn GP's official post-race media statement, Barrichello was quoted as saying the reasons for his failure to win "are now very clear to me having spoken to the team".
Excuses, excuses! Barrichello should have finished no lower than 2nd considering how well Webber was running. After his first pit stop, he was lapping fairly consistently time wise. When I started watching the race, Button wasn't even in the top 10. At the finish, He was trailing Button, and being pressured by Fernando Alonso. If there were about 3 or 4 more laps in the race, Alonso would have taken him. Button and Alonso were lapping marginally faster despite his "advantage."Maksutov wrote:Sorry to bump this post again, looks like Barrichello had a bit of a cry again, Ross Brawn was not impressed...
