Re: The 2021 Russian Grand Prix Thread
This weekend, we return to Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix.
The combatants, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, will resume their battle in the chase for the 2021 World Drivers Championship.
What could decide this race is the penalty that Max Verstappen has hanging over his head for his involvement in the crash at Monza two weeks ago. So, irrespective on whether he is fastest in qualifying, he should start behind, at least, one of the Mercedes. I would think that it will be both as Valtteri Bottas usually goes well here.
Following their superb 1,2 finish in Monza, I expect that both the McLarens will be somewhat there. Just where there is is still to be determined. Was it an anomaly in what has been one of the best seasons of racing in recent years or have they really gotten their respective heads around what has been a difficult car, particularly in the hands of Daniel Ricciardo? Time will tell.
Ferrari have been on the verge of getting their 2021 car up to speed but that is also a little down on outright pace.
There has been somewhat of a concertina effect in that the top 2 teams have slowed development on their current cars and the midfield teams are nipping at their heels. Even Williams and Alfa Romeo have joined the fray. As an aside, I hope that Antonio Giovinazzi keeps his seat at Alfa Romeo. He is one driver who has improved over the season and regularly qualified better than his World Champion teammate.

Re: The 2021 Russian Grand Prix Thread
Antonio Giovinazzi spun his Alfa Romeo into the barriers bringing out the red flag. Damage was limited to the rear wing area.
Pierre Gasly crossed a kerb and ripped his front wing off and brought out a second red flag in the session.
Saturday is supposed to be WET! Up to 50mm is expected to fall. Qualifying may be postponed to Sunday but we will see.
