This weekend we head off to Hungary for the last round before the summer break. This can't come soon enough for many teams as the chase to catch flying Red Bulls. We just don't know if the damage to Max's RBR16 or Honda power unit from the heavy collision will be a problem this time out.
Teams like Aston Martin, AlphaTauri, Haas, Alfa Romeo and Williams need this break to regroup for the final part of 2021. The others need some fine tuning to keep the chasers at bay.

Yuki Tsunoda paid the penalty for his crash in FP1. His crew spent most of FP2 completing the repairs to his AlphaTauri finishing with enough time for him to complete an out lap and one flying lap. Credit to him that he finished so close to the Williams and Alfa Romeo best session times.

It was Mick Schumacher's turn to blot his copybook by putting his Haas into the barrier at turn 11. I seriously doubt that it will be ready for qualifying.

19	1:18.922	Nikita Mazepin Haas
20	No Time Mick Schumacher Haas
This time it was Carlos Sainz' turn to bring out the red flag. On his first qualifying lap in stage 2, the rear of his Ferrari stepped out in the final turn and he ended barriers. He did try to drive away until the front wing ended under his front wheels. There could also be suspension damage to the left side as he went in fairly solidly. Mick Schumacher didn't take to the track and should start at the stewards discretion.

Well, what an odd race.
The initial start on a damp track had carnage into turn 1 with Valtteri Bottas missing his braking point and cannoning into the rear of Lando Norris' McLaren. Then, all hell broke loose. Lando Norris took out Max Verstappen while Valtteri Bottas finished the job taking out Sergio Perez.
The carnage continued with Lance Stroll taking to the grass and himself taking out first Charles Leclerc and then Daniel Ricciardo in the process.
Red flags were brought out to clear the debris and the remaining cars struggled back into pit lane.
The restart had a grid of one with Mercedes instructing Lewis Hamilton to stay out while the remainder of the field all pitted for slicks. Hamilton took off and then took the first opportunity to pit for his slicks. He re-joined the race as the last car running. The chase was on!

Aston Martin's initial appeal was heard by the stewards and dismissed. They then lodged an intention to appeal the decision but have withdrawn this.
Placings as displayed in this thread are now official.
