This weekend, we are off to Monza, home of one of the fastest average speed races of the season.
This really isn't a great time for Ferrari to be in front of their loyal fans and not being in the running for outright places. To rub salt into the wounds, we have to return to Italy for another 2 races this season. The next weekend, we are in Mugello and on the October/November weekend, we return again to Italy, this time at Imola. I see red in the streets as heads will be rolling.
The domination of Mercedes will again be at the forefront. Even with the removal of 'Party Mode', the others will be struggling to get near their pace.
Renault showed last weekend that their low drag configuration is exceptional. Daniel Ricciardo setting the fastest lap on the last lap and Esteban Ocon passing Alexander Albon also on the last lap to gain the team's best finish since their return to F1.
Probably the most disappointing showing of last weekend would have to be the Racing Point's. Considering that they are modeled on last season's championship winning car and running the same power unit, they were sadly off the pace. Maybe this weekend they will be bringing an improved low drag configuration.
The midfield battle is superb at this time with AlphaTauri, McLaren, Renault and Racing Point all battling for those elusive bottom end points paying positions. Geroge Russell is wringing the neck of his Williams regularly getting it into Q2. Nicholas Latiffi is doing a good job considering it is his first season in F1 in an underperforming car.
Speaking of underperforming, anything that is powered by Ferrari is in a world of hurt. The new kids on the block, Alfa Romeo, in particular Kimi, have really taken it to the more established Ferrari teams. This is going to be one interesting weekend.

Wow! What a race!
The Haas of Kevin Magnussen stops at pit entry forcing the race to be slowed with a safety car and Mercedes makes a strategy call that incurs a penalty stop/go penalty for entering the pits while they were closed. While the stewards are taking their time making their decision, the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc triggers a red flag after he loses control coming out of the Parabolica and it all breaks loose.

Congratulations to all the podium on some excellent racing and all deserved their positions.
The AlphaTauri's were quick all weekend and Pierre Gasly drove a superb race to hold off the fast finishing Carlos Sainz by the narrowest of margins.
Kudos to Lance Stroll on an excellent recovery drive to third after being swamped on the restart.
