1} Casey Stoner, Ducati Marlboro, 1:35.422 sec
2} Colin Edwards, Tech 3 Yamaha, 1:35.424 sec
3} Alex de Angelis, San Carlo Honda, 1:36.135 sec
4} Jorge Lorenzo, Fiat Yamaha, 1:36.375 sec
5} Valentino Rossi, Fiat Yamaha, 1:36.457 sec
--Throughout the first session Friday it was a 2-horse race btwn. works Ducati rider Casey Stoner on his Desmosedici GP7 and satellite Yamaha rider Colin Edwards on the YZR-R1; in the end, it was the Aussie Stoner who bested the Yankee challenger in the first session.

--For a rider who apparently might've reinjured his hand from a 2003 injury(more this evening), Ducati Marlboro's Casey Stoner continued to set the pace in Friday practice; joining him at the tip of the grand prix spear in the second session were his main points rival, Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi and long-time MotoGP competitor Loris Capirossi.

--Even if the championship fight is becoming "the Doctor's" to lose, Stoner is still making the effort to attack at every opportunity, as evidenced by the Aussie leading the timing charts in session 3 prior to qualifying
