Stoner wins in the rain at Saschenring...........

Post by mlittle » Mon Jul 14, 2008 7:06 am

For the third time in a row, the top step of the podium was occupied by Ducati Marlboro's Casey Stoner, who held a wet-weather masterclass at the Saschenring circuit, appearing just as fast in the wet as he was in the dry, a sign sure to trouble his competitors as the year continues on.

At first, the race looked to be in the hands of Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, who used the launch controls on his RC212V to jump out to the early lead, getting out to a quick 2 second lead and eventually stretching it out to a 7+ second lead by lap 6.......unfortunately, his day went right out the window as he crashed soon after, giving the Spainard his first DNF of the year. Needing no further invitation, Stoner took advantage of the points leader's mistfortune and leading the remainder of the race to take the checkers.......finishing in second was Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi, who reassumes the points lead going into this week's stop at Laguna Seca; rounding out the podium in third was Rizla Suzuki's Chris Vermeulen, who held off San Carlo Honda's Alex de Angelis, who almost got his first podium of his MotoGP career but will have to wait for the next round......

Results from the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deustchland........................
