Capirossi injured following crash in afternoon practice.....

Post by mlittle » Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:24 pm

Rizla Suzuki will be down to one rider this weekend as returning rider Loris Capirossi injured his right forearm following a high-side crash in the second practice session.......just past the fast, tricky "switchback" right-left at Assen, Capirossi lost control and highsided, landing just in front of the bike, whereupon his right forearm got caught underneath the bike for several moments, resulting in a deep gash to his forearm. After track safety personnel and MotoGP's Clinica Mobile(the series' traveling medical team) examined him, they determined that he would need to rest the arm the remainder of the weekend(a/k/a they didn't clear him for the rest of the weekend). After discussions with MotoGP officials, Rizla Suzuki decided not to substitute AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies, who is at Assen this weekend, citing changing track and weather conditions.

Hopkins out 3-4 weeks following qual. crash at Assen

Post by mlittle » Sat Jun 28, 2008 11:19 am

A decidely tough 2008 campaign for the Hopper got worse, as a crash during qualifying Friday at Assen resulted in a broken left ankle and possible broken left tibia after crashing at the Ramshoek corner, smashing into the tire barriers/advertising walls. According to reports from both Monster Kawasaki's Michael Barthelmy and MotoGP's Clinica Mobile, he will be fitted for an ankle/leg cast and will miss at least the next two events(this weekend at Assen and the next round, at Saschenring) along with possibly Laguna Seca later on.
