Ah, so there will be least one A1GP race in the States'...I can just imagine the looks on those drivers' faces when they go through the Corkscrew for the first time.

Now, if we could just get Formula 1 to race there instead of Indy. 8)

Its just a shame they are using eastern creek in sydney. Its not too far away, but it is a crap track for spectators. It looks like a small road through a dust bowl.

If they ever knock the tops off the hills, as promised, and use the fill to build spectator mounds on the outside of the track, as promised, the track would be in an amphitheatre with all but turn 3 on view from most places

Potential A1 Grand Prix Drivers for 05'-06' season

Post by mlittle » Fri Sep 16, 2005 2:32 pm

While many of the teams for the inaugural A1 GP season have yet to announce their drivers, some of the countries involved have already mentioned some drivers that could be racing in A1 this year. Here are some of the drivers mentioned....

United States--Scott Speed or Bryan Herta
Brazil--Tony Kanaan
South Africa--Tomas Scheckter
Great Britain--Dan Wheldon
Czech Republic--Tomas Enge

NOTE 1--with the exception of Speed, the others will miss the opening round at Brands Hatch(IRL race at Watkins Glen, Sept. 25th),
NOTE 2--Even if Great Britain does convince Wheldon to race for them in A1, they've already announced that Robbie Kerr will drive in the first 4 rounds of the series.

I can't believe some people. Have a read of this:

Sometimes people just need to let go.

USA Fastest in 1st A1Gp Practice

Post by mlittle » Sat Sep 24, 2005 1:36 pm

A1 team USA topped the first practice charts with a time of 1:16.516 secs, with Brazil, France, Great Britain and Malaysia in P2-P5. Other notable spots:6th-Australia, 9th-Netherlands, 11th-New Zealand, 14th-South Africa, 15th-Japan, 19th-Ireland and 25th-India. Full results are at the A1Gp site... www.a1gp.com/results/OP1_Standing.pdf

Judging by the times, I'd say us Yanks have fired the first shots in the A1GP season, but it's still only one practice at Brands Hatch. Good luck to all the countries this season!

Well done USA. The American and European drivers do have the advantage of extensive track knowledge tho, whereas some of the others have never even seen the place. Lets see what happens when they get to some of the other countries :D

That what I'm thinking. Of course, since one round is at Laguna Seca, can't you just see the looks on some of them when they see "the Corkscrew"?

It would be fun to watch. What a pity our round is at a dusty little backyard track, would be fantastic to see thier eyes bulging thru the visors on the first lap around The Mountain :D
