Former Champion to make a few appearances in 2006

Post by mlittle » Sat Mar 11, 2006 10:37 am

While Jimmy Vasser, 1996 Champ Car series champion, had all but announced his retirement earlier this year, it appears he may back for a few races this year for PKV Racing. Sources close to the team report say that he will drive a third car for the team at a few selected events this year, including Long Beach, Road America, and San Jose.

Re: What is going on at Team Oz...???

Latest reports are that Ryan Briscoe appearently turned down Team Australia's latest offer, althought there are still negoiations ongoing. It might just be looking like Alex Tagliani could return to Team Australia in 2006....
If Briscoe wants a single seat drive, I am amazed at him turning down the offer.
Ahah. He is contracted to Holden (GMH) in Australia, and Gore, one of the principals in Team Australia runs a Ford Team in V8Supercars. It is possible that his contract forbids him from signing to a team with Ford affiliations. Now that Walkinshaw is running (GMH) Holden Racing in Aust., it is the sort of thing I would expect. 8) Briscoe is rumoured to be undergoing grooming to replace Mark Skaife in the team when Mark retires....(shortly, I believe. this could well be his last season) :light:

Seats for 2006 starting to be filled......

Post by mlittle » Thu Mar 16, 2006 8:45 am

According to ar1.com sources, Team Australia is set to announce their driver lineup for 2006. Their sources are reporting that Team Oz's two drivers will indeed be Will Power and Alex Tagliani, not Ryan Briscoe as previously reported. The clincher for this story is that a story confirming the above was posted on CBC Sports's French-language website. ( www.radio-canada.ca/sports/Champcar-IRL ); it should be the lead story at present....

A side note to this......with Tag's apparent signing w/Team Oz, it frees up one potential seat at Rocketsports, so it appears that the two seats there will go to either Franck Montagny, Antonio Pizzonia or Enrique Bernoldi.

As the post's title says.....the seats are starting to fill up.....finally!

Could be as interesting as last year's fight for IRL rookie honors.
