Summary of the race at Assen........................

--Software problems bit ChampCar hard today as the engine's boost function(a/k/a push-to-pass) failed; instead of getting an extra 50 hp of boost, drivers who hit the boost button got their car's speeds dropped to 70 mph

--Reversal of fortunes........Last race, at Zolder, Conquest Racing's Jan Heylen had an abysmal race on Belgian soil; today at Assen, he rose to the fore and earned a career-best 2nd

--With Phoenix cancelled, series officials held a long press conference with members of the international press to discuss the state of the series(which admittedly has come under serious criticism in the past few weeks) and made it clear that the series was not in as grave of trouble as critics pointed out(one interesting note was when Kevin Kalkhoven all but accused SpeedTV's Robin Miller of lying over recent remarks concerning meetings btwn. Tony Cotman and the IRL's Brian Barnhart.......   )

--Otherwise, it was your typical ChampCar race weekend.....lots of off-track activity, not much on-track activity..........then again, they race next at Surfers Paradise........
