With yesterday's Indy 500 in the rearview mirrors, here's a nice little gem of a quote from Marlboro-Team Penske owner Roger Penske......."We got beat like a drum by Sam many times, so that's why we hired him......so he can beat others like a drum. He's the best oval racer out there right now." And yesterday, Hornish, Jr., proved it, winning the 90th Indianapolis 500 by .064 secs. over 19yo rookie Marco Andretti.

Anytime a driver wins his or her first race, they sometimes have interesting ways of expressing their happiness at winning. Take new Forsythe Champ Car driver A.J. Allmendinger, who finally won his first race in Portland, who was quoted over the broadcast and pit radios saying, "Thanks guys...you were f------ awesome". (Note...you can fill in the blanks as to what he said. ) :shock: :shock: :lol:

When asked about it in the post-race press conference, he sheepishly replied, "I figured Dale Jr. could do it, why couldn't I?", to which current series champion Sebastien Bourdais replied, "Because you can't afford it!!" :lol: :lol: :shock: :shock:

If there was a constant to last month's IndyCar weekend at Watkins Glen, it was the rain......lots, and lots, and lots.....of rain, prompting these three quotes from the infield media center......

~~I'll be back.....I'm going to go walk my fish.
~~It's a nice day...to be a duck.

My favorite, though, was this one.....

~~~Who decided Dario should get a 'home' race? :lol: :lol: :lol: :shock: :shock:
Greg Murphy on the successful pressure applied by the teams to dump reverse grid racing, and calling for a greater drivers' voice in series decisions......"the drivers consider themselves not to be numb-nut morons"
:shock:
Yet another reason why Skaife has to be careful crossing the road.
There was a deathly hush on the program for about 8 seconds when he said that
Racing......or wrestling?
Post by mlittle » Mon Jul 31, 2006 11:59 am
At today's Champ Car World Series race in San Jose, there were plenty of heated discussions; btwn. drivers, btwn. drivers and stewards, btwn. drivers and team owners....... :shock: :shock: :shock:
But the main card.........watching a short fight btwn. Paul Tracy(w/out helmet) and Alex Tagliani(still w/his helmet) following an on-track collision. While PT walked back to the pitlane after the collision, Tag drove back w/a broken car(the eighth damaged car Team Oz has had this year! :x ) and waited for PT........then walked to him and said, after grabbing PT's racesuit.....
What the ----! What the ---- are you doing! I have no cars! I have no cars left!
PT apologized and began to walk away, but Tag was having none of it, and continued his verbal attacks on Tracy. The arguments continued, and eventually, the two got into a fight. (Don't know who won, but.........PT was seen walking away with a bloody lip and cut on his forehead...... :shock: :shock: :shock: )
What's that saying.....I went to a race, and a fight broke out. :shock: :shock: :shock:
Rick Kelly reveals why he is perhaps not the most popular driver in the paddock,or with the RSPCA, when speaking about passing slower cars.
"Its like little Jack Russells. We need to kick them out of the way"
