Off-Season Trivia, round 3................

After two rounds, the current standings are..................
1st} Southernman, 30 pts
2nd} GhoGho, 27 pts
3rd} cmlean, 15 pts
4th} jacfan, 7 pts

For this round, these questions will touch upon all facets of motorsports, from NA open-wheel racing to Formula 1 to the V8 Supercars and so forth.......Good luck!!!

1st} In the history of motorsports, only one driver has ever completed all three legs of the "Triple Crown of Motorsports", winning the Grand Prix of Monaco, the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of LeMans? Who is he?

2nd} What driver started the now-common tradition of spraying champagne on the winners' podium back in 1967 following the 24 Hours of LeMans? (Bonus......who was his co-driver that year?)

3rd} What driver currently holds the record for leading the most laps during the Indy 500 without ever having won the Indy 500 during the course of their career?

4th} What former F1 circuit in Australia once hosted an American LeMans Series race known as the "Race of a Thousand Years"?

5th} What former V8 Supercar driver now competes in North America in NASCAR?

6th} Who is the only driver to win more than one ChampCar race at Surfers Paradise?(Bonus.......which Formula 1 team will he drive for in 2008?)

7th} What former F1 driver was part of the overall winning team at the 2007 Rolex 24 at Daytona?

8th} Two open-wheel legends have won both the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500 during their careers. Who are they?

9th} What former Formula 1 competitor won five consecutive World Driving Championships' during the course of his career?(Bonus.......what years were those championships?)

10th} What 2-time Atlantic Championship series winner was part of the championship-winning team in the Daytona Prototype class in the 2007 Grand-Am Rolex Series?(Bonus.....who was his co-driver?)

With Christmas approaching and the weather a-changing' here in Western NC.......it is time to release the hounds, I mean....release the answers to round three....... :lol: :lol: :lol: :knight: :knight: :knight:

1st} In winning the Indianapolis 500 in 1966, the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1972 and 5 times at the Monaco GP, Graham Hill is currently the only driver to ever win all three legs of the Triple Crown of Motorsports.

2nd} After winning the 1967 24 Hours of LeMans, legendary American racer Dan Gurney began the now-common champaign celebration when, after being handed a magnum of champaign, decided to spray it all over everyone standing around the victory podium, including co-driver and fellow legend A.J. Foyt.

3} Even though he led 431 laps over a total of 16 Indianapolis 500's, Michael Andretti never visited Victory Lane at the Brickyard.

4} In 2000, the American LeMans Series traveled to the land Down Under and the former F1 circuit in Adelaide for a race known as the "Race of a Thousand Years".

5} After winning 2 V8 Supercar championships, former V8 competitor Marcos Ambrose has competed in NASCAR the past two years, first in the Craftsman Truck Series and, this past year, in the Busch Series.

6} In winning the ChampCar race at Surfers Paradise this past October, incoming Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Sebastien Bourdais became the first driver to win more than one race in what is considered one of ChampCar's 3 "crown jewel" events(the other crown jewels being Long Beach and Toronto).

7} Former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya was part of the overall winning team at the 2007 Rolex 24 ant Daytona alongside drivers Scott Pruett and Salvador Duran.

8} Mario Andretti and A.J. Foyt have won both the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500.......

9} Former Formula 1 World Champion(and one-time cab driver..... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: ) Michael Schumacher won five consecutive championships from 2000 to 2004.

10} 2002 and 2004 Atlantic Championship series champion Jon Fogarty, competing alongside co-driver Alex Gurney in the #99 Gainsco/Bob Stallings Pontiac/Riley were the 2007 Daytona Prototype class winners in the Grand-Am Rolex Series.
