:maths:

Sorry to be such a moron, chaps. but i have to post my Silverstone pole n 8 pics here because Ed hasn't called for a Silverstone pole n 8 thread yet.

I'm sure there's a smarter way to do this, but I am such a techno, computo- phobe, I don't know how to figure it out.

anyway, so you can all mock and enjoy yrselves, here's me picks for the 2006 Silverstone GP.

once again, i will be away from my computer for a week or so (June 3 to 12) in the wild woods of Maine (that's in New England, the North East of the U.S.A., not in France), so I'm submitting my picks early.

As I said last time, I was stuck with my picks from weeks back and so have fallen so far from being a contender, now i can just make my list what I (emotionally) WISH it were, rather than what I (intellectually) THINK it will be.

With that in mind

Pole: Fernando Alonso --he has something to prove and will stick it to all challengers in order to do so.

Winner: Kimi Raikonnen --because it would do wonders for the WDC
2cd Place: Michael Schumacher --ditto above
3rd Place: Felipe Massa --because it would enliven the Manufacturer's Championship
4th Place: Juan Pablo Montoya --ditto above
5th Place: Nico Rossberg --because I like the kid and I LOVE Williams
6th Place: Rubens Barichello --just because
7th Place: Fisichella --because he just seems to always be low in the points
8th Place: David Coulthard --because I like Red Bull

won't it be funny if I'm anything like close?
 :soon:

No Alonso

I think you are using the logic, if Alonso hasn't retired from a race yet, then it is more likely that he will in Silverstone (since you are in New England   )

Alonso will win in Silverstone, you know just to help Michael get over his penalty in Monaco. Michael will retire (naturally I don't pick him). There is a lot of noise, I can't see the rest of the top 8 just yet

But you can WISH and enjoy your stay in Maine and maybe you'll enjoy some French wine

After Monaco which will be Low scoring round (top score about 30 point , Average 20 point, MY SCORE 18 POINT *this time I will drop out of top 20 list for sure*) I think pick for Silverstone will be tricky, we can pick Ferrari and Renault for top 4 but what about inconstantly of Massa and Fisichella, the 5th up to 3rd for kimi but MONTOYA performance also under fire, then the last two spot very difficult to pick, you will have Williams, BMW, Honda, Toyota, Red Bull all can make to top 8 and if you shack the order (Massa, Fisichella, Montoya, + car failure of one or two of top drivers) you will find your self with about 5- 10 possible 8'n'Pole choices, I try all of them but I can't make my mind. 7 days left and it become more difficult to pick.

:good: :that: :D :D

Ahmjad: I like your reasoning; it's easy to see why you're doing so well in pole n 8. Actually, I was sort of thinking that since he hasn't done anything truly typical yet, it would be Ralphie who would take FA out of the race...

either because he refused to get out of the way while being lapped and so turns into the race leader (later claiming he didn't see him)... or because the SC puts him somehow close enough physically if not in laps to run into Fernando while trying some kind of impossible overtaking attempt.

anyway, to further spin out my fantasies, if indeed Michael's little bro takes out the WC and Michael picks up some more points in the race, we'll hear from the conspiracy folks for sure!

enjoy the intervening days before you make your pick, and IGNORE my premontions of disaster for Fernando.

I'm still undecided about McLaren and Williams. If these British based teams are going to fire, this will be the round.

And the Cosworth reliability has me worried.

Well done jacfan.

Did you do this through 8 'n pole or just post in this thread for fun?

Not that it really matters anyway. I'm still undecided on what my picks will be but will submit it by tomorrow (Thursday).

Mark Webbers comment on the Silverstone round as quoted by Dan Knutson
"Next up is Silverstone which is very quick like Barcelona, and a huge demand aerodynamically. Renault will absolutely piss that race, easily. Renault will fly there."
He also says " the chances are high that I will drive for Williams next year, but I still don't know."
