I quite don't understand this forum's rules. But it's ok for me.

It is Simple, really simple.
Try smiling at what you read, BEFORE you reply.
Respect the fact that other people have different opinions.
Don't attack people for having different opinions.
Point out why you disagree, and back it up with facts, IN A NICE WAY.
You are very good at stats, use them nicely, DO NOT ATTACK.
Have Fun

Luck ? As I said before no one has or ever will have the luck of Michael Schumacher and I am more than happy to discuss that in detail on a separate thread

julian why do you think Nick or Mark have a chance ? Be serious Wink

There were a lot of unknowns from Europe to quickly assume the Williams is now up there. Kimi, Montoya and Fisichella in my opinion would have finished ahead.
2 or 3 more races needed to see if they are really up there

He should go back to CART and take Montoya with him, who I hear from some people I know who are close to McLaren has a monumental ego. Those two are stinking up the place pretty bad right about now. I'd sooner have Marc Gene or Pedro Lamy on my team. Why stop there? I'd sooner have Pedro Diniz drive for me! Why are these s@&*^) still in and Olivier Panis is out? Makes no sense.

I won't dog Minardi or Jordan...much! The Jordan drivers are a hoot, always crashing into one another. But seriously, Nahrain in particular is a great driver. I've watched him in other classes and he has impressed me greatly. Too bad Jordan is crap now.

So, JPM and JV s@&*^) and Nahrain a great driver...

IMHO Laughing
A williams has been in the top 5 qualifying at every meeting. They are ironing out their problems quickly, the other teams, Bar Mclaren, no pun intended, seem to be standing still. The cars now seem to be well balanced at different types of circuits, so they look after their tyres. They appear to be getting the right mix of aero and mechanical grip, and adjusting both appropriately for the individual circuits. While they are not the fastest cars, winning Gp's is all about doing so as slowly as possible If Williams had a Jean Todt type ruuning strategy for them they would be a lot closer, but Sam seems to be a quick learner. Both drivers are bloody quick, if they stay in the race, and both are maturing in front of our eyes and I said, AT THE MOMENT!!! I freely acknowledge it could all go to hell in a handbasket at he next meeting
Now can I stop being serious Laughing

Alonso is the driver to have on your team, period, THE END!!! He hasn't made one serious mistake all season. In every race, he has driven superb. You cannot say the same about Kimi this season. He has made a mess of a few races. Also, Alonso has come to the fore the way Michael Schumacher did it. He has driven for lesser teams and impressed right from the beginning finally making it to the top on merit. Raikkonen walked into arguably the best team with the best car designer [Adrian Newey] being mentored by 2 former world champions! Don't get me wrong, I think Kimi is a great driver, and if I could not get Alonso for my team I'd be trying to get him. When the "silly season" arrives, however, Alonso will be the hottest commodity on the driver market. Mark my words. Very Happy

He is already the hottest Very Happy

Alonso made his mark as a future WC when he raced for Minardi.

1st ever race he qualified in the Minardi ahead of a Prost and a Jaguar
In Brazil (3rd race) he split the Benettons (Fisichella and Button) and was ahead of a Prost
In San Marino he outqualified both Benettons and a Prost
In Spain he outqualified both Benettons and a Jaguar (de la Rosa)
In Austria he outqualified both Benettons and a Prost (Alesi)
In Monaco (6th race) he outqualified both Arrows and a Prost.
He continued this trend for most of the other races

No one has managed such magic in the Minardi. Webber was close but not as consistent

In 2002 he was a test driver

In 2003 he was the youngest ever to win a race (Hungary)

In 2005 he will be the youngest ever World Champion

Sunday morning, the racing gods were smiling on IRL resident cutie pie and kick a#% driver Danica Patrick as well in the Indy 500. She pulled off a Danny Sullivan-esque spin without crashing and damn near won the thing. Let me add that while she was spinning, she got clocked by some other driver who went straight into the wall and out of the race! She was hit mid corner by a backmarker in another incident before that and miraculously didn't crash then. The driving by some of the backmarkers in that race was deplorable, and nearly all of the "spotters" need to be fired! What ever happened to looking in the bloody mirror!!

For the rest of you girl watchers, there is another one on the way. Katherine Legge made history [ or maybe "her"-story Rolling Eyes ] earlier this year when she won the Formula Atlantic season opener at Long Beach. Too bad Sarah Fisher defected to NASCAR. Crying or Very sad

Interesting. I'd better try to follow up on those two Wink

I can't agree with you on this one Shocked Shocked

Villeneuve finished AHEAD of Massa in Europe
He is AHEAD of Massa in the Championship

He made a terrible mistake in Monaco, yes but he'll make up for it Wink

Yeah, Alonso has done very fine this year, but you look to have short memory. I still clearly remember Alonso being outqualified and outraced FOR HALF A SEASON by Trulli. When? 2004. you'd say his not the same now...I'd say wait and see.

sgd, you make it sound like it was no contest. But far from it!

Qualifying (even though single lap qualifying with race fuel isn't accurate to make a comparison)
Australia: Alonso: 5 Trulli: 9
Malaysia: Alonso: 19 Trulli: 8
Bahrain: Alonso: 17 Trulli: 7
San Marino: Alonso: 6 Trulli: 9
Spain: Alonso: 8 Trulli: 4
Monaco: Alonso: 4 Trulli: 1
Europe: Alonso: 6 Trulli: 3
Canada: Alonso: 5 Trulli: 3
USA: Alonso: 9 Trulli: 20

So 6-3 for Trulli but if you look at the gaps in many races there was nothing in it and Trulli (and everyone agrees) is one of the best qualifiers out there

Now, for the race:

Australia: Alonso: 3 Trulli: 7
Malaysia: Alonso: 7 Trulli: 4
Bahrain: Alonso: 6 Trulli: 4
San Marino: Alonso: 4 Trulli: 5
Spain: Alonso: 4 Trulli: 3
Monaco: Alonso: R Trulli: 1 (was second before crash)
Europe: Alonso: 5 Trulli: 4
Canada: Alonso: R Trulli: R
USA: Alonso: R Trulli: 4

In the races that neither retired it is 4-2 to Trulli
But look at the consistency, expecially for Malaysia and Bahrain when Alonso started from the back yet still managed points.
None of his retirments where his fault and particularly in Canada and the USA he would have finished ahead of Trulli

Of course we know what happened to Trulli from France

Also you seem to have forgotten that in 2003 when Alonso was the 'rookie' in the team he scored 2 Pole positions and 1 Win. Trulli 0 and 0
Alonso beat Trulli 55 to 33 in 2003 in his FIRST year racing with the team
(others need a few years to get up to speed Shocked Wink )

No JV,not until Monza Wink I would still want a 3-way-championship.
3 DNF's for Alonso should set things i want to be Wink

Alonso is set to be the youngest champion & i have no issues with that. But as an F1 fan,i want other teams to catch up(especially Mclaren & Ferrari) to make this even more interesting.
Williams are sending some good signals also Very Happy
